Any Melaleuca product users out there? Can you tell me why you like their products and why you are willing to pay the higher prices. Also what do you like and why? I'm not sure if their products are worth the extra cost.

What can I do next?

I used to buy the products. I stopped because, I do not believe they are "all natural" based on the ingredient listing on the product itself. Plus, my clothes were not as clean as Purex gets them. My husband tried the vitamins and they actually made him feel tired. I used their baby products for my daughter and she brokeout in a rash, and no help with the eczema. I just thought it was not worth the money at all. I do know people though that totally disagree with me.

Hello A.,
I was a Melaleuca customer for 5 years. At first I was really excited about the products and told all my friends how awesome they are. THEN the problems started.

Smoke damage in my home from the candles (we need to remodel as a result), chemical burns on myself and my son, incomplete orders, wrong products delivered, poor customer service (I was never refunded my money, just forced to purchase a product equal in point value), products that just don't work unless you mix them with 2 or 3 other products, etc. Of course, when I called to report the chemical burns, they claimed that I was allergic to Melaleuca Oil. I have use tea tree extensively and have had no reactions. They refuse to take responsibility and then push more products on you.

One of the main ingredients in their vitamins is SAND. They still use petroleum products in their Renew lotion.

All in all, I think that Melaleuca bears false advertising. They claim that they are "Green" yet use un-natural ingredients. They refused to listen to me for years and only took notice when I sent a letter to cancel my membership. Even then the lady told me that I would be back, since their products are so "superior". After I cancelled, I found out that several of my family and friends had also cancelled.

The price is good, but the shipping and handling is an increase of 18%. Plus, I am a huge advocate for eco-friendly and healthy products and many of their products are not as natural as they claim. PLUS, they just don't work.

I am using truly natural products in my home now, I use alot of essential oils, vinegar, lemon, baking soda, etc. My home is cleaner and my wallet is FULLER!!!! :) Instead of spending upward of $75 a month, I spend about $30 for much more superior products.

EDIT*** I read some of the responses and would like to comment that almost ALL Melaleuca reps advertise as GREEN and ALL NATURAL, and that www.cosmeticsdatabase.com only has 2 Melaleuca products on it's website so it's not really a good way to compare.

I have been using Melaleuca for 4 1/2 years and love them! They work just as well and most times better than the name brand product you would buy. I haven't found the products to be more expensive because they come concentrate and you get up to 6x more use. Everything we use in our home that can be purchased through Melaleuca we do and that is the key to being a customer. They have a money back gaurentee, so if you find that it isn't right for you you can always send it back. I would suprised if you didn't like it. If you have any questions you can email me at ____@____.com.

Actually, the cost isn't more expensive than cleaners you buy from stores. Like someone else said, you buy it in concentrated form, and each bottle makes about 5 or 6 bottles of cleaner. I will tell you one thing though. The thing that makes it expensive is that you have to buy a certain amount of products each month to keep your membership going. The first 5 months or so I was a customer, I was struggling because I didn't need anything more when it was time to order, but I was still having to order stuff. I became stockpiled! I was considering cancelling my membership even. I started asking around and found a few people who were willing to help me make my quota each month though. A couple of them had bought melaleuca products before, but like me, had struggled to make their quota each month, so they were totally excited about being able to order again. This month, I have my whole month's quota met just from 2 people I know that are buying products through me. So, I recommend you ask a few friends to see if they'd be interested in going in with you. You could even have them be responsible for half of your points to make it even easier for you. I will say though that I LOVE their products. They make this stuff called Sol U Mel that gets ANY stain out of carpet/fabrics/clothes/counters, pretty much everything. I've gotten out permanent marker! And tar from a pair of jeans! I've actually stopped being picky about what clothes my kids wear outside because I know if they come in with grass stains all over their knees, the sol u mel will get it out...no joke! And with it being all natural, you can use stuff like that full strength on tough stains without worrying about it hurting what you're cleaning. I had this grease stain on my carpet for 3 years from the oil on the hinges of a door and I'd tried several things to get it out. I put full strength sol u mel on it, let it soak for about 15 minutes, and then scrubbed it with a damp dish cloth and it came out! I couldn't believe it. They also make a mela magic that I like because a cap full of it is enough for my 1 gallon reservoir on my carpet shampooer. Carpet shampoo can be one of the most harmful cleaners in your home, and it feels good knowing that you aren't putting that on your floors anymore. Plus, it made my carpets feel softer than I've ever felt before. One more thing, their tub and tile is awesome too. My husband has a stand up shower in his bathroom that has that textured floor. Well, it's a pain to scrub, but with the tub and tile, I just spray it, let it soak, and wipe it and it comes clean with no scrubbing. So, now you know I really love their products! I just recommend you getting help with the quota.

We love the Melaleuca products and the business. It only costs $29.99 to start and you buy 35 points worth each month. It comes to between $50-60 . My wife and I spend that each month on the vitamins. Most of the products are highly concentrated so last way longer than store brands. For people who say that spending that much each month, you can't tell me that you don't spend $50 a month on laundry and cleaning products and vitamins and make-up( yes they make-up) and medicine and so on. It is a no brainer for a safer home. And you can make money telling people. I would love to tell you. ____@____.com

I joined Melaleuca last year, and did not find it cost effective. The household cleaners were fine, but I did not find the laundry detergent to work, and we just didn't have the use for many of their other products. If I shop sales and use coupons, I can get natural products just as cheaply or moreso and not have to worry about buying a certain amount every month. I will say that I really like the Renew lotion, but that alone was not worth the membership requirements. It may have been more worth it, as someone else suggested, to go in with others so you can meet the quota without feeling like you're buying things you don't need.

I have been shopping from Melaleuca for about 6 years now and LOVE it.They won't say the products are "all natural", they stand behind their claims of not using any harsh/harmful chemicals, toxins and cancer causing ingredients. The products got rid of my son's eczema, we are much healthier, my kids are rarely sick, I have more energy, and it has helped with allergies. We save money as the products are VERY concentrated, lasting 2-6 times as long as most store products. I love having safer products, no worry about accidental poisionings, and all of the products work so much better than what we used to use. I don't buy all the products as I don't have a need for everything, but what we use, we love. I only shop at Walmart about once a month now. Check this out for information on chemicals and causing cancer ingredients in what you may be buying...

I've been using their products for a couple of years and LOVE them. I use most of their household cleaners, laundry & dish soap, vitamins, Renew lotion, toothpaste...I think that's it. If their products are more expensive (I've never really compared) up front, they last way longer than what you get at Walmart. For instance, if you buy a bottle of their shower cleaner, you pour a small amount of the cleaner into a spray bottle and fill it up with water. I think one bottle makes 3 or 4 spray bottles. So one bottle could last nearly a year. All their cleaners are the same way, you barely use any because it's so hightly concentrated and therefore it lasts forever. The reason I started buying their products was my infant daughter had eczema and I heard about the Renew lotion. I have since gotten MANY people using the lotion. It's GREAT. And one of my other favorites is the chap stick. LOVE the chap stick. And the toothpaste. Oh, and the Solumel cleaner gets tomato stains out of white clothes like nobody's business, it also gets Sharpie marks off counters and floors. And if you put straight melaleuca oil on your child's cut, scrape, etc. I swear it will be healed in a day or two. It's amazing stuff. I can't say enough good things about Melaleuca.

As a member, you would receive discount pricing on products. Also, people have mentioned that the products are concentrated and will stretch further and customer rewards will also make up for shipping costs. For example, shipping costs are about 6% of your order, but if you order online by the 25th of the month, you receive 10% back in rebates.

I'd check with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.gov) to see if there have been any reports regarding the products.

I just ran a search on the company on the FDA's website (FDA.gov), and there appears to be some interesting information including a warning letter about misleading marketing claims.

I personally have not used them, but these are just a few resources to help you in making your decision.

Good luck!
