Measuring Big

I am 30 wks pregnant with my 3rd child. At my ultrasound everything was right on track, that was at 19 weeks. I have been measuring 3-4 weeks ahead at every apt. The ultrasound showed no extra fluid and nothing that would make me measure big. My doctor doesnt know why either. My daughter was 10 lbs 2 oz at 41 1/2 weeks and my son was 8 lbs 12 oz at 39 weeks. (induced with both) When I first measured big I asked my doctor if it was a big baby and he said it wouldnt be the baby because they dont gain a lot of their weight until later on in the pregnancy. Im having a lot of braxton hicks contractions and the baby is very low. Literally laying on my hip bones, but also kicking me in the ribs. Has anyone else measured so far ahead at every apt?! If so what happened? did you deliver on time or early?

What can I do next?

I measured small with my second and my doc told me that it can all depend on how you carry the baby and how the baby is positioned and it doesn't always have to do with how big the baby is or how much you have gained. Like some women carry more wide instead of all out front and because you are measured vertically that could make you measure a little smaller or for someone who is all out front then they could measure larger. It also depends on the baby. Like if you carry lower you might measure lager. Also I read that the way your pelvis is positioned can have an effect on how the baby lays. I know with my second I was kinda all over the on visit I was measuring 2 weeks behind then the next visit right on, and then the visit after that I was back to 1 week behind. And my doc said the baby was probably just in different positions. So I don't think it has a lot to do with when the baby will come.

My first I measured big the entire way through, however I delivered an adorable 8 pound little guy 10 days late. Everything was fine, no problems at all.
I really wouldn't worry about it. Each pregnancy you go through your body knows more and more what to do, so it makes sense that your stomach muscles would stretch easier and you would "look" bigger.
Relax and enjoy, and get ready for three! :)

I would love to know because I have the opposite problem ! My Doc keeps saying im measuring small ! I'm like, what does that even mean ? Because I am going on 38 weeks, due the 24th and when I had an ultrasound on May 28 they told me the baby was an estimated six and a half pounds already and that the fluid looked good and all the measurements were perfect, and they kept my due date the same yet then when I go in they keep mentioning im measuring small. I don't know what the deal is. This is my first so I am very curious to see if I go beyond the 40 week mark....but they did say she was already head down and I have been feeling more pressure down lower which is probably the baby contractions yet though. Also I have gained plenty of weight, 35 lbs so I can't imagine why I'd be measuring small. She told me it had nothing to do with my height ( almost 6 foot) or my frame, but I can't see how that might not affect it.

It sounds like everything is still god to go which is great. I don't think anyone else mentioned that maybe you just conceived before the doc thinks?? Unless it was a very calculated thing but of course, that's always possible right? Just a thought though. Good luck!

I measured big from about 32 weeks on with both my pregnancies. With my first, I also retained a lot of water, so I was very uncomfortable for the last 4 weeks. I had to have an extra ultrasound with both of them (which was nice to see my baby again), and everything was fine. My doctor wasn't worried. My first was 9 lbs 6 oz and my second was 9 lbs 12 oz. I just carry big. Your doctor shouldn't be too confused or worried about you carrying larger, it's not that uncommon. All women carry differently and if the ultrasound shows up ok, then don't worry.
Congratulations on baby 3!

I'm curious too...I'll be 34 wks on sat and my 20 wk ultrasound said about 3 wks early and I've been measuring big ever since. But my doctor just said to expect a BIG BABY.
