Ladies:

Any recommendations for maternity clothes for the shorter set? I stand at 5'1". Its tought enough loosing my waist, but I don't want things which are so baggy that they take away from the little height that I have.

I am open to suggestions.

Thanks :)

What can I do next?

I am 5 feet tall and found that lots of tops that were A line and separating the boobs from the belly helped keep me from looking like a short round munchkin. I found that lots of regular clothes (not maternity) were easy to find in this style-and then wearable afterwards! Good luck!

I'm happy to share! I found Ann Taylor Loft recently, and it doesn't look anything like Ann Taylor clothes if that's not your style. I also used

I am more petite like you 5'3 and wear a size 0 pant. So i know what you mean about trying to fine pants that fit. For me I did a couple things...first I bought capri leggings. They come about mid-cafe and look really cute with a short baby doll style dress or one of those super long tunic style shirts. Second I also just got a few pair of larger sized pants from American Eagle. I bought a size 6 and then your can still pick the length like short or regular. And third I just bought some casual maternity day dresses. Motherhood has some cute, cotton dresses that work great.

Motherhood maternity has a petite line, it's fabulous!! I'm 4'9" so for me to find something that FITS, AND looks cute it was fun!! I am on my 3rd pregnancy and this is the first time I have ever felt attractive and confident while preggers!
Good luck!

I'm 5'3" - I went to Gap online. They have maternity clothes you can get in your real size unlike most maternity stores. I LOVED their pants & tops.

I am your height and I just wore a lot of the empire waist shirts with maternity trousers. Those were in style then and I just bought larger sizes from the regular section as opposed to maternity.

Old Navy. They have "short" maternity pants and really cute maternity clothes.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, I absolutely loved being pregnant, it is so great when the baby is kicking and flipping around inside of you.

I am in the same boat. When I was pregnant with my first 27 years ago I had to go have them hemmed, but when my I was pregnant with my last one 11 years ago I found that the maternity shops here in CT had petite sizes which was a blessing in disguise. What I did was bought 3 or 4 pants and shorts that I could wear with many different tops and then bought 6 or 7 tops and mixed and matched. One of the girls I work with is in the same boat, she is a size 1 and is only 5' tall; she is doing exactly what I did except she bought tops from Wal-Mart because they are cheaper. Hope this helps.

I hemmed a lot of things up. I found Motherhood had some nice pants that could be folded and buttoned to be capris. These fit me very nicely. They were also very comfortable. I also did a lot of skirts, as the hems on those are a little more forgiving. I thought the below the belly style was more flattering. Congratulations!

I paid to get my stuff hemmed. I also wore a lot of skirts and dresses, where length doesn't matter as much.

I too am 5'1", and had to alter alot of my pants. I bought clothes from Motherhood and JCPenney. Some of the things I could roll up, others I used the iron on tape to alter the pants.

I think it was Motherhood.com or maternity.com where I got cute tops that were fitted but stretchy so they had plenty of room for growth. I'm not big on the baggy mommy-to-be clothes either. I also found really cute, simple pants at JCPenny stores.

Dear L.,

I am petite myself. size 14 kids and women's size 0.
I loved wearing cotton pants by Old Navy, jean overalls with white t-shirts or tank top and white tennis shoes. :-) (got the idea from a maternity store ad)
I also loved wearing the babydoll style dresses n gauzy stretchy shorts or capri pants.
Hope this is helpful!!

Good luck,
L. :-) Lake Oswego, Oregon
