My 2.5 month old baby had acid reflux several weeks ago. Then it stopped. Now it's back. I just heard that Mangosteen juice works wonders for reflux. Is anyone famaliar with Mangosteen Juice? I just bought some last night at Central Market. Does anyone know how much of it I should give my baby? Has anyone had success with treating reflux with Mangosteen juice? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have to agree w/Katy. Babies sysmtems are VERY sensitive. They should not be given ANYTHING besides breastmilk or formula at 2 mo. old. I've noticed, since joining mommasource how many parents start giving their kids solid foods and juice at just a few months old. They can't handle that harsh of foods yet. Doing that allows them to become more susseptable to allergies! Like one mom mentioned, don't lay your child down too soon after eating. And also try to watch your diet as well if your breastfeeding! My daughters doc. said she never needs to be given juice. Its noting but sugar. Stick w/water and milk. NOw that she is six I look for low sugar options like Mots for Tots juice boxes for her school lunches. But your a ways from that!

Hey, Michelle. Please understand that ALL 2-month-old babies have reflux. All of them. Some worse than others. It is frustrating, I know, but it is usually a LAUNDRY problem at best. Please, please do not give your baby some bizare concoction. Please. THe digestive tract is very fragile at this age, and even adding rice cereal (an age-old remedy) can be harmful. Stick with the usual precautions, talk to your doctor and get some extra towels and sheets!

Your baby is NOT ready for juice of any kind! If this is true reflux and you are nursing then nurse more frequently for less amount of time. Hold baby upright after feeding (for 15 min to 30 min) no matter how baby is fed. IF you are formula feeding and the problem is keeping it down then talk to your doc about adding cereal. If your baby is not crying non stop and gaining weight then just roll with it and let your little one grow.

I do not know anything about Mangosteen juice but please read this advice that I have posted for a few other moms before:

"My 2nd spit up too. From day one he did. I got scared once when he was about a month old and he threw it ALL up. I took him to the pedi. I was given the following advice:

-Never wait TOO long between feedings during the day (even if he is napping).

-After eating, do not allow him to lay down FLAT. Prop him up in a swing, bouncer, etc. to allow gravity to help hold down the food. (He still spit up, but not as bad.)

-When you start solids, don't give "sharp" or spicy foods on an empty stomach."

I hope it helps.

Blessings,

P. <><

I started giving my daughter 1/2 an ounce every day in the morning starting at about 1 year old (she was 16 pounds). It has really helped out! She's still on medicine, but she never spits up with the mangosteen juice. If there was a day I missed a dose, she'd spit up. It has done wonders for her reflux and she sleeps so much better at night! I saw the effects of it in 3 days. Good luck!

I have had acid reflux since I was a teen and I am now 41. My husband and I went all organic last year after he dealt with many health problems. The biggest cure we found in all our research was Apple Cider Vinegar. I used to take a Zantac or Pepcid every day. Now I only need every once in awhile. I put a tablespoon in 2 ounces of juice 2 times a day. The Vinegar should be unfiltered and organic. Whole Foods has their 365 brand for $4 and that gets me through a whole month. Hope this helps!!!
