Man Shower and Cloth Diaper?

I want to have my DH have a man shower and the guys bring cloth diapers. Is that too hard a task? The theme will be poker and BBQ and Beer. Not sure if this is a good idea or not. I thinking of sending out invitations with the place we have registered for cloth diapers at in the invitation. One diaper would equal about 7-20 bucks so that would buy in to the poker game. The end prize would be something creative for the guys. Or would it be better to ask guest to bring a cloth diaper to the baby shower and one person will win a prize. I m thinking for the prize Starbucks gift card for 25-30, or gift form Avon. what do you think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After reading all the reviews and talking to my DH he doesn't want to do it. So I think I we will throw him a poker night with a BBQ and Beer. Let his friends come. We will either said out invites or we will call his friends. I'm thinking about sending invites but not sure how to word it.

I don't know any self respecting man that would attend a baby shower AND bring cloth diapers. Hell - most women wouldn't even spring for clothe diapers. Make it simple if you insist on doing it - and don't specify what they need to bring - and keep it short, without games and provide lots of alcohol. LOL

Do not ask men to bring cloth diapers, or any diapers for that matter. It won't get done and the ones that actually communicate this need to their wives will have to have them do it and that defeats the purpose of having a man shower, in my opinion. In general I would say that if you have a man shower don't expect gifts. I think Momma L was right about a couples shower if you want to include the guys otherwise just send your hubby out for a fun night out before baby comes and leave it at that.

I'm surprised by the nay sayers... men don't buy diapers?! They buy them in my village! Personally, I wouldn't throw a party for my DH while pregnant. Maybe it's different if you're a full time SAHM but it seems like a lot of work for you.

Do a couples shower.. like a bbq... just avoid the baby shower games, since I don't know if men would spring for anything with 'shower' in the title!

Just as long as the men can follow registry instructions to get the right kind of cloth diapers, though in reality i think very few of them would actually do it ;) ... I think the game idea is a pretty good idea though~

I think it sounds adorable-their wives will make sure they show up with the "right thing"

I'm sad that you've already decided not to do this, but I wanted to share my experience anyway.
When my friend was pregnant with her third (but first girl) I threw a co-ed baby shower and poker party. To get the men involved, the buy-in for the poker party was diapers. (They used disposable, but could have worked with cloth as well).
The more diapers, the more chips they got.

The guys had a blast, and a few of the ladies decided to play poker too!
I agree that you want to avoid calling it a "shower"...

Yes, I think guys should be able to pick what they want to buy. Are there women invited?

I love the idea of getting the guys together, but maybe let them decide what they want to bring as gifts. I think the possibilities for humor are endless: a flask for the diaper bag (for tough days, ha ha) or a Devo suit for diaper changes, Heavy Metal hits done in lullabye fashion.... If you are doing a man party, let the party be their's.

The only flaw I see in the idea (even though I love the idea about cloth diapers) is that *they* don't get to choose the present. I'd say, if they ask what you want, lead them to the registered diapers, and if not, let them choose what they like. Or, you know, run this idea by your husband. Chances are, he knows your friends better than we do, and could give you good feedback.

I think that this is a very clever idea. I like the idea that the buy-in would be the cost of a diaper rather than to have them bring a diaper with them.

I did a couples shower for my ex sister in law about 15 yrs ago it seemed kinda new then and everyone loved it. Lets face it the ladies went out and got the baby shower stuff but the guys got involved too. It's fun and I like your idea the diaper thing would be neat to try but I'm not sure if it would go over well. Very creative however. I did door prizes things they could use in their homes I put a sticker on table clothes and when someone lifted up their plate whoever had a sticker got to put their hand in the bag an pull a wrapper prize.
I say run 10 people if 6 like ti go for it, anythings worth a try.

Kitty,

His friends, family or your's should be giving the shower.....Man Shower or Woman Shower.

Throwing your own shower is asking for gifts.

Blessings.....
