Making Money as a Stay at Home Mom

I know this is the question that a lot of stay at home moms ask, but are there ways to have a "job" from home while being a stay at home mom. This isn't really for the money, although any money is great, but I really would just like to have something that I do in addition to raising the kids. But, I definitely still want to be a stay at home mom. Thoughts?

What can I do next?

What about selling outgrown kids clothing on ebay? I've sold tons of stuff on ebay and it's a nice sideline PLUS you can do it at whatever time of day or night. And as much or as little as you'd like. Kid's clothing goes like hotcakes!

Piggybacking on Denise's suggestion, do you have any crafting skills that would allow you to make things at your leisure, and sell them on ebay or etsy? I saw on etsy some people upcycling wool sweaters into some really neat things, like mittens, slippers, pillows, leggings for babies, purses, etc... if you sew at all, you could try this. I also saw some adorable little dresses for little girls made from upcycled t-shirts... just some neat ideas I saw on etsy that I'd like to try myself.

My fiance's parents make a certain kind of woodcraft, and they sell their wares at big craft shows, so we go often. And I see so many neat things, and I never buy them, because between me sewing, jewelry making, crafting, and his skills with wood, tools, etc. we always decide we can make it! So if you are handy at all, you might be able to get some ideas of some neat craft ideas you could make and sell by going to a local craft show! And I'm not talking about the same stuff you see everywhere. We have seen some really neat, and relatively easy/inexpensive stuff to make...

Are you crafty at all? I just started making my kids bows, painted shelves, making bow holders, etc. I'm thinking about maybe learning to do more stuff and maybe selling on Etsy or facebook.

Sorry to be coming on board late on this. No doubt, LOTS of women who are in a variety of Direct Sales companies are all over this question. I made the decision to leave my career as a registered medical technologist (hospital lab work) to work from home with Mary Kay. Within 4 months I exceeded my hospital pay and have been making 6 figures for almost 3 decades. Now I am enjoying being home for the grandkids! The average income for the women I have trained thoroughly is $100 per hour. I was the last person on earth you would expect to make a career out for "selling", but the parties are so much fun, and the results of helping women have beautiful skin is so gratifying, I just love it! The comaraderie, the posiitve mindset, and the recognition truly round out your life. We are needing more women. Check out the Mary Kay Cover Story on Direct Selling News Magazine and read the article about us. You will be amazed. You can go to my website www.marykay.com/jbeckstedt and contact me, if you like. I am one of the top trainers for the company, and have a great track record for helping other women follow in my footsteps. God Bless you in your research.

I am a SAHM who does Passion Parties on a part or full time basis based on the money needs of my family. I do my parties typically after the kids have gone to bed during the week or on the weekends at times that work best for me and my family. I even did them during my pregnancy with my 2nd child.

I have SO much fun being able to go out and meet new women of all ages and walks of life, talk about a subject that is important to so many of us and even provide some education on such a sensitive subject. This is helped me have something I can call my own, helped me feel like a financial contributor to the family well-being AND I have an ever better circle of female friends than ever before.

This business is a gift for us moms and I'd love to share it with you.

Call me if you want to chat and see if it will work for you and your family =) 866-798-8442

I needed something after a couple years of being a SAHM mom too. I started working for Discovery Toys, which is a home-based sales company (along the same lines as Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc). I love it! I always have fun new toys around the house for my son to play with and I get to go out, meet other people, work on my own schedule, and of course bring in some extra income.

If you're interested in joining my team, please send me a private message or enroll on my website at http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao Right now, they are offering a $20 discount for new team members, plus the opportunity to receive a full refund on your initial investment. With the holidays coming, it's a great business to be in - everyone needs presents for their kids!

I have the perfect thing for you - direct selling. I personally have been with lia sophia jewelry for 6 years and started as an advisor so I could pay our day care bill and have some flexible hours. We needed the added income but I did not and could not be away from home tons of hours.
It's perfect - you work when you want and the pay is terrific, along with the social aspect, the new friends and empowerment you get from your team members.
Now after 6 years, we live very comfortably and I work only 4 nights a month. I have grown a big team of amazing women, most of whom have become wonderful friends.
I would highly suggest something like this to you....great money, something fun and exciting to do and you set your hours.

I work with a company that unlike Mary-Kay, Avon or many others you only "sell" the items once and it's done. For example we sell DishTV so once you "sign" someone on every month that they pay the bill you get your commission. We work with over 1300 companies and if this sounds like you or something you would love to hear more about contact me at 830/275-2513 or e-mail ____@____.com

have you thought about being a consultant for different companies? AVON, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Lia Sophia, My Thirty One. I'm sure there are others. Find something that you enjoy already and then be a rep for that company. Good luck!
