******UPDATE ON MY UPDATE.....******* some of still responding telling me either to freak out or not to freak out, and also to go to the emergency room because the doctors office is closed on the 4th of July....I posted this on July 3rd, not the 4th, therefore the office was out to lunch when I called, and I did get an appoinmtment for my husband that afternoon, hence why I posted the first update that he has Strepp. Still waiting on the results on the blood word ckecking for Lymes. ********

Hi Moms,

Just a quick question....Headache, fatigue, chills, cold sweats, then hot, nausea, loss of appetite, disruption of sleep, & neckache...

All of the above hits like a ton of bricks and out of no-where. Sounds like the flu, right? Many people are saying no, sounds like Lyme's Disease..

This is what has happened to my husband. I just tried calling the doctor's office but they are closed for lunch. So wanted to hop on here real quick and hope to get a response within the hour to ask if all these symptoms do in fact point to Lyme's Disease - is it possible for them to come and go? Like, everything hit him last evening, then a few hours later he thought he was feeling better but instead he ended up feeling extremely nauseas for a very long time, and then this morning he felt worse all over again, and then he again thought he was feeling better and then bad again and now he's feeling better AGAIN! It's like pulling teeth to get him to go to the doctor so I've been doing everything short of that to get him to agree to go. He fianlly said he would and of course the office is not picking up the phone! I'd ratehr be safe than sorry....

Has anybody gone through this?

What can I do next?

yes, had the same thing last June and it took 6 months to diagnose because we didn't suspect Lyme. Definitely get him to the doctor and take antibiotics as soon as possible.

Don't freak out. Go to the doctors they'll draw blood and test it for Lyme's. If it comes back positive they'll treat him. If you catch it early enough it's not a big deal. Don't fret.

Happens in our family a few times a year. I usually say it has to do with something we ate. Also, stomach viruses are common. I'm not a big believer in Lyme disease -- yes, it exists, but, well...

Anyway, obviously you have to be vigilant, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if your husband feels better in the next twenty-four hours. If he's actually throwing up or having diarrhea, he should be sure to drink water. Often times the dehydration can really add to the headache and neckache (kind of like a bad hangover).

Blessings for good health!

Jean, none of us can diagnose your husband. If he has Lyme disease, the sooner he is diagnosed and treated, the better his outcome will be. Please don't play the internet diagnosis game, online groups do not take the place of a medical professional.

I hope that your husband will get himself into the doctor and on his way to recovery from whatever he has very quickly

He should be checked for Lyme, especially if you live in an area where it's prevalent. However, it sounds more like the flu to this non-medical expert :-)

(I've been treated for Lyme 4 times, so have a little familiarity with symptons, though I imagine they can vary by person. For me, largely joint aches--severe--and constant fatigue.)

A good resource for the future is: www.webmd.com

From what you've written, it very much sounds like lyme's disease.

Symptoms can change from hour to hour, or day to day. It is important that he go get tested.

Also know that many people who have Lyme disease come up negative on the tests.

I had it and came up negative. I finally went to a Lyme specialist and got the treatment I needed.

I would be happy to speak with you if it would help.

Have blood work done and make sure they test for lime and other tick born illnesses. With the tick illnesses the sooner they are treated the better and if it is the flu you will be sure. Hope he feels better soon! A.

Sounds exactly like Lymes disease. My husband had it twice. Make him go to the doctor right away! Sometimes you get a circular red ring aroound the bite but sometimes you dont so I would get checked for Lymes because those symptoms sound exactly like what my husband had. especially the headache and neckache, chills/sweats, nausea. Netter safe than sorry. If Lymes is left untreated too long it will become a chronic lifelong illness.

i would have the test just to be sure, you don't want to leave Lyme disease untreated. i don't think nausea is a symptom though but not sure

It was the 4th of July, so I don't imagine the doctor's office was out to lunch, I imagine they were closed. And with symptoms like that I'd be heading to the emergency room or at least an urgent care office.

Sounds like it could be ehrlichiosis, another tick borne bug, which can look like the symptoms you're describing. Here's a link with more info:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/ehrlichia/q&a/q&a.htm
Don't screw around, this is one of those non-negotiatable issues! Get your hubby to a doc who is familiar with Lyme and other tick borne diseases and do it ASAP!
Better safe than sorry, you need to rule out this possiblity.
Good luck!

Jean,

Have you gone to http://www.webmd.com and used their symptom checker? You can also look by topic so you could read specifically about the flu and specifically about Lyme Disease.

I have a friend back home who kept being treated for mono when come to find out, he had Lyme Disease. I'm afraid I don't remember what all of his symptoms were though. :(

Get hubby to the doctor to be sure and make sure they do tests! They didn't test my friend for LD and by the time they did, he had to be on antibiotics for something like 3 or 4 months straight.

Hugs,
L.
