My daughter will be in kindergarden next yr and will have to eat lunch there. Some days she will eat there if she likes whats on the menu. I need some ideas on things to pack on the days she brings her lunch. She doesent like bread so Im kinda at a loss. All the traditonal pb&j and ham sandwiches are out. The only fruit she likes is apples and bananas. So any ideas would be great..the more crafty the better b/c she is a picky eater.....thanks a millon this will save my life.

Will she eat tortillas? If so, maybe you could send quesadillas ... bean, cheese, chicken, whatever she would eat. Also, mine like pinwheels mde from rolled up tortillas spread with refried beans, meat & cheese or tuna salad. If she might go for pita pockets, they make cute little mini ones. Good luck.

Hi. My daughter is in Kindergarten, and we are in the same situation! She doesn't eat bread and is a picky eater. She usually takes yogurt, a banana, pretzels (or crackers or chips), fruit snacks, carrot sticks, etc. The problem is that while all of these are fairly good, they don't have enough protein. She doesn't like meat much. Every now and then she takes along chicken nugget lunchables, but she isn't a huge fan of that either. I try to bring her something when I can, but it has been challenging. I guess we just pack random things so that they can eat and just hope that they outgrow pickiness... I was the same way as a kid. I think I ate snack cakes and chips everyday (ugh), but eventually, I gained a liking for real food (although I am still somewhat picky) :)

My son will be bringing his lunch every day to school due to food allergies. :( I plan on getting a thermos shaped like a bowl and putting things that will keep in it. You could do soup, spagetti, mac-n-cheese, rice or whatever you can find. My son loved that last year. I also make him chef salads. He loves salads!! Ham or chicken salad and veggie crackers work well too. Apple and banana chips or dried fruit. Look in the deli section at your grocery store too. They have lots of pre-made salads you can put in there.

ritz has small cracker packs now and Jif makes small peanutbutter cups for spreading. my kinder daughter loves cheese slices and crackers too. small carrots canned peaches/pears in light syrup yogurt banannas i sometimes even shred some ham and she just eats it plain w/ her fingers
The prepacked lunchables are good but they have TONS of additives and sodium-- i limit those big time....
**try to expand her food choices this summer and try some NEW fresh fruits and veggies-- i've heard that it takes about 10-15 "introductions" to food before the kiddos will take a liking to it. good luck and happy eating!

tortilla roll ups, use a thermus and do mac and cheese, and pasta. It kept warm for my daughter. Veggies, crackers, cheese. Our school has a microwave and they also help the kids warm up items.

Does she like lunchables?
There's plenty of those to choose from and good to eat.

I pack for my daughter string cheese, her fav chips, fruit snacks, yogos, the crackers that come with cheese to dip them in, a yogurt, cheezit crackers in the small packages, and fruit cups.
Of course I don't pack her that much daily but that's the variety of things we choose from.

Good luck to your daughter next year....Kindergartens a fun time!
