Back in 2007 i found a lump in my daughters armpit. We went to doctor who sent us to general surgeon...needless to say my daughter went through alot of testing...mri's, cat scans, blood work, xrays etc... Bloodwork came back normal, cat scratch disease negative, lyme disease negative. They said they know its not a cyst or in-grown hair follicle. They said they really coulsnt tell what it was but since her bloodwork came back normal i was told to just keep an eye on it. Well tonight i checked it and it is hard as a rock and a little bit bigger than before...so yes i am calling doctor tomorrow morning. However, has anyone gone through this or know someone who has and if so, what was the outcome diagnoses? She has not been sick at all, she plays softball and basketball and is very active...straight A student etc..etc.. so nothing has changed with her. She is not tired or weak etc..etc... Just looking to get some input as to what it could be since the last time we went to doctors i was told not to worry about it then and to just keep an eye on it and my family doctor suggested the same thing after results came back..that was 2 years ago. CONTINUED....i was also told it wasnt a cyst. They did say they would do a biopsy on it if it got bigger so that might be our next stepAnd they didnt remove it back in 2007 cause cause at that time there was no need to go under the knife according to them...i will also not be going to the same doctor..

it could be a benign tumor. my mom used to get tumors on the back of her legs. she had them surgically removed. it was no big deal. if all those tests came back negative i doubt it's something horrible. good luck!

My sil had a cyst in her arm and it got bigger so they removed it. Also, I know a friend whose baby had this in his armpit but they found cancer right away and had it operated on. Since all came back normal before, I bet you are okay but you may want to get it removed soas not to worry about it or let it get larger.

As a teenager, I had a hard lump in my armpit that was caused by using a clear antiperspirant. When I stopped using it, it eventually went away.

I would just say to go with your gut instinct. If it's nothing than you'll know and no harm was done, but if it is something you can get treatment and head off what could've become a bigger issue down the road! You're a good mommy to be concerned!

I had a hard lump under my arm when I was younger and my deodorant had clogged a few pores. I got antibiotics and it cleared up and I switched deodorants.

How old is she?
Does the lump bother her?
If she will have surgery, assuming it's discretionary and not urgent,
see if you can have it scheduled so that it won't interfere with her athletic activities.
Try not to worry so much.
It's probably nothing serious.
Just what was it that made you unhappy with previous doctor?
Was he the regular pediatrician for your family?

I have a lump in my armpit near my breast. I went to the doctor for a mamagram and ended up doing an ultrasound instead. Mine is a lymph node. So that might bring you a bit of comfort. But go with your gut instinct!

My sister had that when she was younger. There are some glands under there that can get swollen during puberty she was told. No big deal. Could be the same thing.

Hi There, It sounds like it may be lymph node. My son has one the size of a kidney bean that is on the side of his neck. When we 1st noticed it we freaked out as did his Dr. After much examination and Specialists, ultrasounds, and blood work. It has been concluded that it is just a visible, palpable lymph node and nothing of concern. Our original Ped wanted it out right away and sent us to a surgeon. It was the surgeon who said we should look at it closer before we put him in for surgery, and I'm glad we did. Our new Ped feels the same way. Take her back to the Dr and they should be measuring it so they can note any changes. Just wanted to give you some peace as I know how concerned you may be. People still question his "lump" even the school nurse this year. However I am comfortable knowing that it was examined thoroughly by several Drs and they all had the same conclusion.
All my best

T.,
Try warm compresses to see if the lump responds to heat. If so (becomes less rigid or smaller), then it is likely an ingrown hair or inflamed lymph. You should still see a doc, but this bit of info might help in the diagnosis.
Good luck,
C.
