Luau Birthday Party Favors

I am throwing a luau party for my soon to be 6yo son and I am having a hard time thinking of something to do for treat bags. I don't want to do the typical "goody bags" with stuff kids just end up throwing away. I was wanting something eatable or maybe one big thing. I am hoping all you moms had some good ideas you could share! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I think I would do sand pail with sunglasses, sunblock, inflatable beach ball and a small snack like fruit snacks. Have fun!

I like the sunscreen, sunglasses, bubbles as mentioned below, but I also think you should be sure every guest gets a lai to wear at the party and home afterward.

Not exactly what you were asking, but Dollar Tree has a bunch of cute luau-themed party decorations. What about personalized sand buckets in your party theme? Dollar Tree and Michael's have some for $1 that you could write their names on with a paint pen (or they could decorate them themselves as a craft activity. I second the Oriental Trading recommendation. There is also USToy in Plano (Parker and Independence I think) that has a lot of the same items as OTC, but if you buy from the store you can buy in any quantity you want (they are a little more expensive in my opinion though). My daughter is having a mermaid/under the sea party and we are doing the sand buckets with beach ball, water toys, fish fruit snacks & water squirters. Also, there is a bookstore at the Outlet Mall in Plano (near Ave K and Spring Creek on the TJMaxx side) that has cute children's books. Nothing is over $5 (some are only a $1 or $2). Maybe you could find a book that would work for your theme. Good luck!

I saw some really cute things today from Oriental Trading. I think you can even shop online. They had a lot of luau stuff and cute invites. They had invites that were in a bottle (like a message in a bottle), and I wish I had something to use them for because that is just the neatest thing. Good luck.

I like the idea of pails as goody bags (cheap cheap ones are at Target)

Have you looked on orientaltrading.com? They have loads of luau stuff and you might get an idea from there.

Maybe a mini inflatable beach ball?

I do candy buffet's for weddings, birthday parties and all types of other events. It is pretty neat and can be as low as $1.50 a kid (depending on the type of candy you pick).
I usually use glass containers, but we I can picture using sand pails and the shovels as the scoops!

I love the sand pail idea, because it's re-usable. They can use it with sand or in the bath. You can also try a beach towel, if you want to spend a little more, but the pail is always a great container for them. :)

I like to stray from the "traditional" goody bags, too. lol I make Kids Character Soap Favors for my business. If you are interested in having me make some fun soap favors for you, I have fish, dolphins, flowers, whales, suns, palm trees, beach balls, crabs, starfish, and shell mixtures I could do - scented or unscented- and colored in almost any color. I also have some SpongeBob characters that includes one on a surf board, and they are Pineapple scented. :D You can view him here: www.favoroo.com/index.cfm/Soap_Favors/fuseaction/ViewProd...#

Hi! I also do party favors. I do customized candy bars that make great thank you's and I normall include a theme related craft in the goodie bags so that the kids have something to do later that makes them think of where they were and how much fun! I also do Noah's Ark Animal Workshop Parties and they have some great outfits in luau, swimming and surfing themes. We have a huge selection of animals that are incredibly soft. Kids love this typ of party! www.noahsarkworkshop.com/teresadoerr3713
