Hi everybody!!! My son is starting to get invited to alot of birthday parties and I was wondering what are some good ideas for not so expensive birthday gifts to give. These are boys from his class at school, and when I asked the parents for some ideas I was just told, "oh, he loves anything". Hmmmm.....any ideas? I can't spend alot of money, but don't want to get his buddies a junkie cheap gift just to give one. Any ideas? Thanks everybody and try to stay cool in this horrible heat!!!!

What can I do next?

NOW is the PERFECT time to stock up.... go buy pads of paper, markers, crayons, glue, scissors, a big activity book and put it in a nice little canvas tote/book bag ... you could even monogram it with their name or decorate it with paint and tie the handles together with an adorable ribbon. It's practical, functional and VERY CHEAP right now!

Half Price Books has been great for inexpensive birthday gifts. For boys though, it seems that anything with wheels is a hit. I've found cute little remote control or battery operated vehicles at Walgreens when they do their "3 for $12" toy sales. Craft kits are often inexpensive too (check Michael's and Hobby Lobby).
Also, you might be selective about which parties you go to. If it's a kid you've never heard your son talk about, you shouldn't feel obligated to attend.

Target always has toys on clearance...I have been able to find great toys there for less than $10! Also, look for Toys R us to have sales, sometimes they do buy-one-get-one free deals and then you can stock up for the next party!

Have you tried the Matel Toy outlet off Blue Mound Rd and Meacham Blvd? they always have good buys on things and one day (cant remeber which) they have additional amounts off the items.

My son just turned 3 and received a GIANT (I'm talking like poster board size--huge!) floor coloring book (his was Superman--LOVES IT). I saw them at w-mart and it was around 5 bucks. Pretty cool gift!
