In addition to diet and exercise, adaptogens are a natural way to regulate your blood sugars. To learn more and watch "The Story of Adaptogens Documentary" 10 minute video, go to VitalHealth.TunguskaMist.com

I also highly recommend an incredible book titled Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief by Winston and Maimes. From the book "There is a category of herbs called adaptogens that help the human body adapt to stress, support normal metabolic processes, and restore balance. They increase the body's resistance to physical, biological, emotional, and environmental stressors and promote normal physiologic function".

God Bless!

Had you eaten at all that day or had you eaten the night before? It's not that low really and some people just run on the border like that. Second question - are you regularly symptomatic - shaky, cold sweats, lightheadedness, extreme mood shifts accompanying these symptoms? If you are not symptomatic, I wouldn't worry about it at all. You should have them retaken. Always have blood tests redone before you act on them. To keep your blood sugars consistent throughout the day, you want a strong protein diet.

Hi A., I have had low blood sugar for Y E A R S. I have learned just to watch what I eat. I can still have sweets just be sure you don't over do. You will learn what triggers a reaction. Usually if something is coming up where there is going to be wonderful desserts I try to eat protiens & just healthy foods that day as well as a few days before. I pray yours is as easily controlled as mine. Read up on it but don't stress out about it. You'll learn to love peanut butter, cheeses and oranges & juice, lol if you don't already. God bless you & good luck.

Nutrition plays a large part into how our bodies work. Herbalife offers a nutritious meal that works at the cell level to get your cells healthy so they produce "good cells" instead of damaged cells from damaged cells.

Hypoglycemia is called low blood sugar, which is the condition you have. Herbalife's ShapeWorks programs, particularily those with extra protein, can stabilize your blood sugar, reducing the uncontrolled blood sugar swings of hypoglycemia. It's all about nutrition.

You want to know the perfect protein mix, which is based on your height and weight. Please call me: ###-###-#### or go to my website: www.derweightlossmall.com to find the perfect mix of protein to help you with this problem.

I look forward to talking with you!

Your score should be 70 to 90. 67 is really not low. I suffer from low blood sugar - when I say low I mean below 60. I also fluctuate thru the day. Diet is really the key and eating more smaller meals to maintain a blood sugar. You can always bump up your sugar with sugary drinks, but that will cause you to crash and dump you even lower. So a regular eating schedule, with protein is the best course.

Good luck!

Low blood sugar is a forerunner to diabetes that is one reason you need to watch it closely. Your sugar should be between 70 to 120. Right after eating it could go very high but should come back down within an hour or two. When you have, a sugar low, orange juice is the best thing to get it back up. Meat will help keep it up. Or rather protein. Good luck and talk to your doctor.

Natural sugar alternatives are either Stevia or Agave cactus syrup. Agave is liquid and great to sweeten hot drinks. Neither will spike your blood sugar. You can find these items at Sprouts, Whole Foods or Roy's Natural Market. I prefer going to either Roy's as there's professional counseling at all times and they have a great organic restaurant too! Roy's is on the North East corner of Preston and Royal in Dallas.

I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia in 1975. I suffered from headaches, mood swings, crying jags, lethergy, and mild depression. After a glucose tolerance test which showed my strong reaction to sugar, I went cold turkey. I didn't eat anything white for a very long time. Slowly, I began to add back some things, but overall eating a high protein diet. In my 40s and 50s I didn't seem to have any reaction so I went back to eating whatever I wanted. I am now in my 60s. I thought those days were well behind me, but I was wrong. I've been having sleep problems, depression, and other symptoms that were attributed to menopause, but I am well past that, too. I went back on the high protein, no carb, no sugar, and I am feeling wonderful. I sleep soundly, I have energy, and I am NOT depressed. For some, sugar and carbs are just like a drug.
Judge for yourself how much it affects your life. But try going off the white stuff--potatoes, rice, bread, sugar, and see if it make a difference.

If I were you I would see a doctor. That is pretty darn low at anyone's standards. I'm all into natural, but do not believe you should discount the medical world.

My husband is a diabetic and we are all about blood sugar levels. It is a balance of the way you eat. It's really the way everyone should eat. Eat three meals per day with a little snack in between, but the snack should be at least 2 hours away from the meals and all should be balanced with the right amount of carbs, protein and fats. Check a book out from the library that can help with specifics. Don't forget about exercise (no matter what your weight is).

MANY people have this hyperinsulinemia like I did- and you can SEE them because they carry mroe weight in their middle- especially younger girls who have not had babies yet but still have quite a bit of flabby middle going on. It is due to sodas in that age gorup mostly.

My low blood sugar was due to hyperinsulinemia ( too much insulin) because I was eating so many carbs ( popcorn, cereals, bread, pastas) that my body HAD to produce a ton of insulin. When I went 4-5 hours between meals, my pancreas would continue to ship out insulin but without food to handle it, my blood sugar level would drop.

My chiro put me on a deal where I ate every 2-3 hours small portions of protein plus a little something else like fruit or veggies. NO skippijg meals and eating fairly soon upon rising in the AM.

I was never hungry, but did get itchy a bit as I came off the carbs and had some candida die off. I had to take Excedrin once or twice for sugar detox headache- even though I drank no sodas at that time and had VERY little intake of sugar.

No grains, cereals, breads, etc for 3 weeks. Straightened me out in a hurry. NO sweeteners at all except stevia. www.zevia.com for a Stevia sweetened soda if addicted to sodas.

Examples of a quick snack were a piece of cheese with an apple. Peanut butter with a banana. A handful of almonds with a glass of milk. Boiled egg. I chose to do meals with like 4 ounces chicken with a small salad or cooked veggie( no sugar in dressing).

HTH,
J.

You have alot of good advice one thing I would like to add that I really didnt see is when you are out and about shopping doing what ever you are doing at the time you feel your sugar drop and you can feel it trust me on this. Get somewhere and grab you some orange juice candy bar any thing that can get it back up. I found out I have this and It is maintained pretty well but, ever so offtend it goes to low and I get very weak, headaches, sometimes even feel like I am going to pass out the light headed feeling. But, I grab some OJ and then I am find. But the items the other readers have mention are great as well need to get with your doctor again to montior it on a reg basis.

Hi A....you've received lots of great advice! First I'd say consult a Dr. that will listen to you and explain what is truly going on with your body...how low is low...what does that mean...etc. Did you receive a comprehensive blood panel or just measure the gluose? The reason I ask, is because many factors are involved with health and it's difficult to assess the whole body with just a tiny peice of information...were you fasting before the test? I'd love to chat with you and help you gain a more comprehensive understanding of the true source of the problem!! Please email me back and let's discuss a few things!

Hi A.. I get these big tablets from the diabetic section at the store. They are in a plastic tube. I like the raspberry flavored. Coffee, though a perfect present from the Lord, can cause a drop in blood sugar due to the caffeine. So, could it be that the day you took that test you had drank coffee or tea or something? I don't take those tablets all the time, but sometimes after I drink my coffee, I will crave something sweet, hence the relationship between coffee and donuts. The sweet craving is your body (a.k.a God's temple) telling you your blood sugar is low. I keep the tablets if I am too busy to eat something wholesome, to tide me over until lunch sometimes. Listen to your body. The next time you are headed for the dessert, think about your blood sugar being low. Blessings to you.

I am the mom of a 15 year old who has had type 1 diabetes for over 11 years and my brother was diagnosed when I was 5. Normal blood glucose is 80-120. I am borderline hypoglycemic and was on a strict diet years ago for about 6 months - it really straightened out my body. Please go see a doctor as this is not something to guess at. Low blood sugars can impair your thinking and response times making things like driving dangerous.....there are many things that can bring the blood sugar up but you need to find out 'why' you are low. That said - when was the last time you ate before the test and what did you eat? You can also go to the pharmacy and buy a meter to check your glucose levels (least expensive is store brand at WalMart)...check when you get up, before meals and two hours after you eat......please contact me if you want/need more information..........

Hi A., my 14 yr old daughter passed out at school this year and after several tests the doctors discovered she has low blood sugar. Little did we know this was the cause of her frequent headaches, dizziness, tiredness, and moodiness all of which we had blamed on "being a teenager". She now eats a small snack between meals (one between breakfast and lunch and one between lunch and dinner), this small change has worked wonders. She has none of the symptoms she had before and feels better than she has in a long time. For snacks the doctor suggests cheese or peanut butter crackers or a granola bar. We also make sure she eats some protein with every meal to help balance the sugar highs and lows.

Plotnick et al. Journal of the American College of Cardiology 2003
University of Maryland School of Medicine

Study summary and findings:

Daily consumption of Juice Plus+ for a little as three weeks reduces the immediate adverse effect of high fat meals on blood flow compared to placebo.

This double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized parallel group study determined if three to four weeks of daily Juice Plus+ or placebo consumption could prevent the immediate reduction of flow-mediated vasodilation caused by a high-fat meal. Thirty-eight healthy American volunteers took part in the study. Subjects were randomized groups to take Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend and Garden Blend, Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend, Garden Blend and Vineyard Blend, or placebo daily for 28 days. The flow-mediated brachial artery reactivity test (BART) was used at baseline, day 21 (end of week 3) and day 28 (end of week 4), both before and after a high fat (50 gram), 900 calorie meal, to measure vasoconstriction. Fasting blood samples for analysis were collected at the beginning and end of the study. After both 21 and 28 days, the Juice Plus+ groups showed a reduction in the detrimental effect of the high fat meal on vascular function. The addition of Vineyard Blend to the regimen of Orchard and Garden Blend had an additional positive influence on this parameter. The Juice Plus+ groups also had a modest decrease in total and LDL cholesterol and no change in HDL cholesterol or triglycerides compared to the placebo group. The entire study population had low baseline homocysteine, which remained unchanged in during the investigation.

Many factors can effect blood sugar. Low blood sugar- hypoglycemia... is usually well maintained by eating regularly. Plan snacks and meals and don't skip meals.

If you are taking any medicines, check and see if any of these can cause low blood sugar.

Then perhaps you can ask to redo the test, because labs can make mistakes.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest seeing your doctor even an OB/GYN can handle the glucose tolerance test if you think that you have symptoms of low blood sugar.

Mine is border-line low like yours and eating small frequent meals/snacks has helped a lot. Think of not adding food to your diet but spreading out what you already eat over a day. When you eat a protein and a carbohydrate/starch together your blood sugar stays more even rather than imitating a rollercoaster.

Exercising is something that you are doing that is beneficial as well. Be careful that you don't bottom out after exercising. I would snack before or right after.

Good luck!

I have hypoglycemia too. Eat more protein throughout the day and try to make the carbs you eat be "good" carbs that take a while for your body to digest. You also should eat at regularly-scheduled intervals. These three things will help you maintain steady blood sugar levels. Also, try not to eat too much processed sugars. After I eat a high-sugar food, I just want to go into a coma!
I eat a great soy protien shake for breakfast from Shaklee's Cinch Inch Plan. They come in vanilla/chocolate/strawberry/cafe latte and have 16+ grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber. You can check out the whole Cinch product line at www.cinchplan.com/recipeforhealth. They really satisfy me and after eating them for breakfast for 2 weeks, I really noticed my sugar craving had gone away! (I am a gummy candy freak and I always kept a bag in my pantry for my daily after-lunch craving. Now, I don't even remember if it's still there!)

Hi A.,
I have been fighting my blood sugar levels since I was in 5th grade (a long time ago). After passing out three times in one day my doctor finally ordered a glucose test and discovered I was hyperglycemic/border line diabetic. Since then I've had to watch my sugar intake and also eat more frequently. A few months back I discovered Waiora products to help with my overall health and my sugar levels. They work wonderfully! I can't recommend them enough. I have tons more energy, I sleep better, my sugar levels are normal, my overall health is better. My 6 yr old gets sick quite often (every 3-4 weeks) so I started her on the EDN (daily nutrients) and since then she hasn't gotten sick once! They are also famous for their Natural Cellular Defense, it removes heavy metals and toxins from your body.

This is a link to view all their products but if you are interested don't order here, become a member and you'll be able to order the products at cost. Feel free to call me if you have any questions.
