I "work" from home, but it really doesn't feel like work. Some stay-at home mothers I know looking after kids(better same age with your boy). Give an add in your local grocery store etc, tell that you can watch the kid for few hours- or to take to school or pick up from school . it is around $7-12 /hour depend on where you live. If you live in Manhattan it is probably even more. To make contacts of mothers you should regularly go to playgrounds or sign for mommy and me classes.
