My 15 month old has been drawn to things that light up (toys, games, the remote control, etc.). My husband just bought a new digital camera for himself for Christmas and every time he takes it out to figure out how to use it, my ordinarily docile daughter goes berserk! She is throwing tantrums and doing whatever she can to get over and up to that thing to play with it. I would like to find her something that is shiny, has blinking lights or maybe even has a video screen. (I realize that this is an unusual gift for a 1 year old but I know that she would really love it!) Does anyone know of some toy that we can get her that would satisfy her unusual attraction to electronics?
Did you think about getting her her own camera? A few mths ago at 17 mths my baby started getting into our camera too. We bought her one of the kid cameras (@$20) that takes real pictures that are downloaded on the computer and it's kid safe (bounces, handles water, etc...)She loves it and takes pics all day long.
Target has plenty. Take her down her age appropriate aisle and let her choose. You'll know right away which one gets her going.
I got my 19-month-old a VTech baby laptop for Christmas because she was always going after my 4-year-old's Disney laptop. She loved playing with it in the store, but it's in the closet now until Christmas! She also likes a Brainy Baby toy that we've had since my older daughter was little--it has lots of lights, music, buttons, a piano, and a phone. Hope that helps.
Target has a line of toys called Parents, they make the most realistic toy electronics that I have been able to find, such as a cell phone.
She's in that cause & effect exploration phase where she likes to make things "do" by touching it. Of course, she is also still in the "Hmm, let me stick everything in my mouth to make sure its not secretively tasty" phase... And for that reason, I would rely more heavily on toys geared for 12+ month or 18+ months instead of flashy lighty toys geared for older kids.

I don't have any idea what to get your daughter but I'm reading and waiting for more responses to your question. My daughter is the same way. We find it amusing but sometimes annoying because we can't do anything in the same room with her if its electronic. Phones, computers, cameras, TV remotes. If it lights up she wants to eat it. I have been wondering if she would grow out of this phase but it's been going on for a long time now. It doesn't help that her daddy is a "geek" and always has "geek" stuff out. Now I know that my daughter's fixation on the flash isn't just a phase.
Oh, well, I guess our kids are just going to be the next generation's inventors of technology.
