Hi,
I don't know if there's such a thing exist, but figured I would ask anyway...anyone know where I can find coupons for Shedd aquarium in downtown Chicago? I really want to take the kids to go this summer but see that it could cost a fortune for a family of 4...we're hoping to go this Thu.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I don't know anything about that aquarium (and don't even live near Chicago), but thought I would offer an alternative. Have you looked at what it costs to become a member (if you live close enough)? Our zoo that's about 1.5 hours away costs about $10 a visit, but a family membership is only $59 a year. We go twice and it is completely paid off! Have fun!

P.S. Just looked up the cost...it is $145 a year for a family and it will cost you about $90 if you buy 2 adult and 2 kid passes. I figure in 2 visits you have paid it off, and now you could go more frequently!

If you are looking at doing more than Shedd, you can get a city pass. We used these when we went to Seattle. http://www.citypass.com/chicago

Chicago Public Library (if you have a library card) has passes to all Chicago attractions that you can "check out" for a 7 day period. The Aquarium goes quickly, of course, but if you can get there first thing on a Monday, you'll have good luck. Also pick a smaller neighborhood library than a large branch.

Also, if you have a friend or anyone that lives in the city and can meet you for the day, if THEY buy the tickets, they get a discount for being a city resident (10 or 20%, I think).

Finally, if you really want to cheat the system, all teachers/people that work for schools get free admission. My SIL is a teacher in Oak Lawn, and I've used her pay-stub before when buying passes to get mine for free. They don't check for ID.

Hope that helps!
