I live in New Brighton and UNity isn't that far away from me. Do you know doctors that deliver there? Also, did you like it there? If not, why? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I go to (and went to while I was pregnant) Fridley OB-Gyn, located in a building next to/attached to Unity Hospital. ###-###-####. They have several doctors that work together as part of the delivery team (if your doctor isn't available for your delivery, at least you will have met with the other doctor at least once during prenatal appts). I've been happy with all of them. Good luck with finding a doc!

I also go to the Fridley OB-GYN group in the professional building attached to Unity and I like the group very much. They have 6 doctors and 5 of them are fantastic! I've been with them for 8 years now. Dr. Hamel delivered both of my kids -- one was even high-risk. Unity has updated their nursery greatly since my last was born 4.5 years ago and although they don't have a NICU, they do have a Level 2 nursery that is well equipped for most emergenies. They are also not afraid to send kids on to Children's if they need it. The nursing staff is excellent on the recovery floor and I would highly recommend the hospital and OB group. Also, Fridley Children's and Teens clinic is in the same professional building (3rd floor) and they are a great group of pediatricians. Good luck with everything!!

Hello I had my first child at unity. My OB at the time was DR Basset with Columbia park medical group in fridley ####-###-####. What I really like about him is I was given his nurse's direct line and she was alway there to help. I was at the time a first time mom so I had a lot of questions. The only reason I no longer go to him is we moved and once I was pg again unity was to far away.
Good luck
K.

You are not far from North Memorial. I had all three of my kids there. I have always seen the physicians at OBGYN and infertility. North has a great NICU just incase there are any complications. And the Pediatricians at Partners In Peds are located right across from the hospital and They are great. Our insurance just changed and does not cover them 100%, but I will still be taking my kis there.

Ive delivered there 3 times within the last 8 years. With my first 2 deliveries (1999 and 2001)I had Dr Buss who used to be through Columbia Park Medical Group...but he left and started his own clinic and doesnt deliver at Unity anymore. He was a great doctor...very informative and personable and remembered me without having to look at my chart. I was sad that he moved and so I had to find a new doctor. My first delivery at Unity was good. But with my second and third, the delivery was good and the doctor that delivered my babies were good (Dr Agbeh ) but the aftercare wasnt that great. I felt like nobody really payed attention to me cuz I wasnt a first time mom. I had to ask for lots of things, had to push the call button a lot of times because things were beeping in my room and nobody came to see what it was. It seemed like nurses were hard to find. At one point I noticed the soles of my feet were yellow and asked a nurse why that was...and she said "I dont know...thats weird" Minutes later my doctor came in and informed me that I lost a lot of blood in surgery and needed a blood transfusion before I go home. THATS why my skin was yellow! My parents who were there for the delivery (c-section) were not happy either because they weren't told any updates as to why my surgery and recovery was taking longer than expected. They had to keep asking but were never given any information.

So..2 out of 3 stays at Unity were good. The doctors there seem good too. I just didnt have the best stay the last time (which by the way, was in 2006)

Good luck with whatever you decide!
