We're moving from Dallas to Plano in the next few months, and I need to find a school for my kiddos (age 4 and 22 mos in Sept of '06) We're much more interested in a preschool with actual curriculum than a daycare.

There's a preschool and Mother's Day Out program at the Collin Creek Community Church, near Coit and Spring Creek. I just started taking my 2 1/2-yr-old son to the MDO program - one day a week; and he really enjoys it!
The school is called The Lighthouse at Collin Creek. There is a daycare there, but it's a completely separate program -- even separate playgrounds - the daycare is called Children's Ark.

Here's the link for the preschool/MDO...

I don't know what they teach to the older 4 yr olds but I know they do have a curriculum. I know that my 2-yr-old's MDO class follows a class lesson plan that is appropriate for that age level. He really enjoys it and loves his teacher. The MDO for one day a week is $90/month. 2 day/wk is $180/mo. Don't know what the preschool rates are??
Good luck!

Hi M.,

My daughter attended Preston Meadows Montessori on Legacy and Ohio ###-###-####). Fantastic school, but there may be a waitlist. You can also try Soraya Montessori on Custer and Spring Creek. When we interviewed there last year, they had openings as they were just building their business. I was really impressed with them.

Good luck!

Plano ISD has tuition based preschools that offer half day programs (or you can pay double tuition and enroll in both morning and afternoon session). They start at age three. My son has been at Beaty Early Childhood for two years and I couldn't be happier. The standards are so much higher than private preschools/daycares in this area and you don't get all the politics regarding potty training and feeding that some places will hit you with. As far as your 22month old, I'm looking into the TLC learning centers as their rates are resonable, they have curriculum, and web cams in all the rooms and on the playground so you can watch your kids from work or wherever you have internet access. Good luck in your search. (Plano has three early childhood schools and the one you attend depends on where you live. you can visit www.pisd.edu to find out. The names of the three schools are Beaty, Pearson, and Barron.)

You should check into Primrose Schools. They have the most highly qualified teachers and one of the best curriculums in the area. They are a franchise and I do know there are several in the Plano area. I think there is one near Coit and Spring Creek, but I am not 100% sure. Check their website at www.primroseschools.com for a location nearest you. If you have any questions for me about my familys' personal experience with Primrose, please do not hesitate to e-mail me. Good luck to you and your family!
