Looking for Preschool in the Las Vegas Area

Currently, my daughter who is 3y, attends daycare once a week or once every other week while I work. (My kids stay home with my mother in law the other 2 days a weeks while I'm at work.) The daycare they currently go to does have a somewhat of a structured schedule -- craft time, music time, stories, snacks, nap, outside play. Since my daughter will be 4 next year, I'd like to start to have her in a more routine, structured preschool to help prepare her for school. The daycare does do learning things, like a letter a day, etc., but I feel she could be learning more in a 'preschool' vs a 'daycare.' I need some help and suggestions on preschools here in the Las Vegas area. I've researched some online, but the only ones that come up are private and are well over $1000 a month!! Needless to say, that is too expensive for us. Anyone out there use a good preschool that is not too expensive??

What can I do next?

I don't know where you live in Las Vegas but here are a couple of suggestions for you.

Little Buddies Clubhouse-this is where my 4 yo currently attends and I LOVE, LOVE it! Most people know her as Ms. Delores. She does the school out of her home and it is so great. It is located in Henderson near the Silver Springs rec center. She might have a waiting list so I would call as she only takes 6 kids in the morning and 6 in the afternoon.

UNLV-they have a great program but also a waiting list. If you are flexible on the time she goes then you might be able to get her into the late afternoon session and when something becomes available in another time slot you could move her.

Hope that helps!

Don't know what part of the valley you live in but we use Spring Valley Montessori. I couldn't be more pleased. I'm a big fan of the montessori method because it really works! The school is between DI and Sahara just off of Rainbow. The director there is wonderful and all of the teachers are happy. Many of them are certified elementary teachers as well as preschool. My son has been there since he was 18 months old. Now he's a terrible two who says please and thank you, throws trash in the garbage can and knows how to set his place at the dinner table! It's crazy what they learn! We pay less than $800 a month for full time with before and after care. When we left KinderCare we were actually paying more! Ms Susan is the director and you can check out their website. The assistant Ms Corrine is there all day and she can help you too. ###-###-####

The best preschool I found is Creative Kids at Torrey Pines. I have twins that still go before and after school, they are in all-day kinder now. They have been going there since they were 3 years old. They have an excellent program.

Their preschool class even assigns homework getting them ready for school.

Good Luck with your search.

Check the archives. There was a post very similar to this a couple of weeks ago. I believe that mom lived in the SW area of Vegas, but there were some good suggestions.
