Hi all! I am starting a Preschool search. I'm really excited for my 2.5 yr old who is going to be 3 in the beginning of July to be going to preschool. I think that she would really enjoy it and it would be good for her to be away from me and learn the rules and social skills and creative skills. I am looking for a school in the Bridgeville or Collier Township area, but further wouldn't be a problem. I'm not religious but not opposed to a religious preschool. Please let me know what you all think and why you liked it and if the religion will be a problem. Any suggestions on this is welcome!!! Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Hi, C.,
My kids have been going to Beth El Nursery School (BENS) off Cochran Road in Scott Township, just near the junction with Greentree Rd., and we've been very happy with it. It's small and nurturing, with very capable teachers who take a genuine interest in the kids. They have a pretty typical pre-school program involving a lot of free play time to explore all the different areas of the room, story/circle time, a different craft or project each day, indoor or outdoor gross motor time, a weekly visit by a music teacher, snack, focus on the alphabet in the 4-year-old program, etc. The kids are busy and happy. The pre-school is housed in a synagogue, so they do teach Jewish holidays (which are pretty fun for all) and say a quick prayer in Hebrew before eating. The kids attending come from very diverse backgrounds -- Indian and European, for instance. My kids loved going to camp there last summer, too. Their number is ###-###-####.

I'm going to offer 2 suggestions that I know about through word of mouth. One is Zion Lutheran Church on Washington Pike near Portman's and the South Fayette Shop N Save. About a year ago a mom on another board mentioned that she sent her kids there and really liked it. http://www.zlcb.org/

The 2rd is Ewing Hills preschool off of the 79 Carnegie Exit in Rennerdale. It has a long standing program - some of my friends went there 35 years ago. It was very popular in our community. http://www.ewinghillspreschool.com/

I'm sorry I can't give you more specfic information about them. If you want to travel to Bethel Park, I can give you information about Christ United Methodist Church preschool. It is next to Vilage Square Mall. They have nice class sizes, caring teachers, aides in most if not all of the classrooms, a drop off program, art/science/music classes, a nice outdoor playground, once a month religious lesson. My son really likes attending and I am very happy with the program. If you have any q's let me know.

Hi, C.

All three of my children attend The Goddard School in Venitia off of E. McMurray Rd. My daughter attends kindergarten, my youngest son is 18 months and my stepson attends summer camp. It is a wonderful place with a great cirriculum. They do yoga, sign language, foreign language, art, music, and a bunch of inside and outside play. It is expensive but you definitely get your money's worth. Their number is ###-###-####. The owners are Bob and Lori Santo who are on site every day.
