Looking for Pediatrician near Northside/Children's Hospitals

I currently have a ped. at Piedmont Hospital who is great, but it's just becoming too inconvenient to where we live. We have an altered (delayed) vaccination schedule so are looking for a ped. near Northside/Children's Hospitals. Any recommendations on pediatricians? Particularly one who is open-minded and will cater to our vaccination schedule? Thank you!

What can I do next?

My 3 kids (4, 3 and 4months) go to Dr. John Long at Sandy Springs Pediatrics. They are great and have 3 - 4 infectious disease doctors on staff that do rotations 1 week a month at Children's Health Care across the street. I have friends that do go to the other ped practices mentioned but anytime those doctors from the other practices have an infectious disease question they call Sandy Springs Pediatrics. Sandy Springs seem to be flexible on the vaccine sechedules.

I take my children to Northside Pediatrics off Hammond Drive and am very happy there. I've seen most of the children there. Dr. Sally Marcus is my favorite. Good luck!

Hi, my pediatrician is in Smyrna, but I wanted to respond to the post about Peachtree Park Pediatrics. I used them for over a year with my first daughter and was unhappy every visit I went to, from rude reception, nurses cold and not at all nurturing to my daughter, waiting an hour or more every appointment when I made the appointment for vaccines months in advance, to the dr herself blowing off every inquiry I had and spending no more than 5 minutes each visit after the hour wait with my daughter and never once did anyone apologize for me waiting and trying to keep a baby entertained every single visit. The straw that broke the camels back was when the first and only time I took her there for a sick visit, she had been running a fever of 103 for several days and I took her in they had me undress her to her diaper then the usual hour wait, but during the wait they had a routine fire drill which they had told me they would but then they made me take my naked feverish daughter outside(as in outside the building) to wait, I came back in and found that they didn't make all the patients leave their rooms just shut their door, only a select few went outside, so why my sick with fever daughter was the unlucky one I don't know. Oh, another thing while I was outside they had someone giving away free ice cream and the nurses were all getting some while I was standing there with my daughter who was sick and naked. When the Dr did finally see her she reprimanded me for "not" waiting another day or two before bringing her in.(She hadn't had a wet diaper in 24 hours which was why on the third day of fever I made the appointment)(not to mention this was a recurring sickness-high fever no other symptoms- with her and I wanted to get to the bottom of it). Needless to say I never went back and I steer everyone I know with children away from that place. I did try one other practice before the one I am currently with. I suggest whatever you do to do a trial run(if you can afford it) to interview a practice before you stick with one like I did. Sorry for all the run-on sentences, I get fired up when I think of how bad every visit had been and mad at myself for not saying no when they asked me to take my daughter outside.

My son is also on a delayed vaccination schedule. We see a physician at Peachtree Park Pediatrics. They are all wonderful! Their number is ###-###-####. Just tell the receptionist you are using a delayed vaccination schedule, and she will make an appointment with the right physician. (Our ped. isn't currently accepting new patients, but I have friends who use other doctors there, and they are all very pleased.) The nurses are wonderful, too! Take care.

Checkout Sandy Springs Pediatrics. They are located in Buidling F of the Northside Professional Buildings, across the street from Scottish Rite.

they have several doctors and they are all wonderful. My daughter sees Dr. Leonard. I live in East Cobb and won't change my pediatrician because I really like the doctors there. Plus, they have a CDC doctor on staff.

Here is there website: www.sspediatrics.com

Good luck!

I loooove our ped - she is great with my 9 months old twins. Her office is located by Northside Hospital and her name is Kytia Balcarek; her number is ###-###-####; and address:
993 Johnson Ferry Road
F Building, Suite 370

She always remembers us (and not just because the kids are twins), she is friendly, honest and loves our kids as much as proud mom and dad. I promise you will not be disappointed.

We don't vaccinate, and we use Dr. Jeffrey Abrams. He's very supportive of your choices. In fact, his wife is a chiropractor. The majority of them don't support vaccinating babies. He's not in the Northside area, but not too far.

Children's Wellness Center is wonderful. I was referred by my OB and I'm so glad I asked. There are three doctors and they are all mothers. They are great as well as the staff. You can reach them at ###-###-####. You can tell them B. Reddick referred you. We see Dr. Mekelburg but you will love the entire team. Good luck!

Hi C.,

I also recommend Children's Wellness Center on Mt. Vernon. My son sees Dr. Mekelberg, who is really wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the babies/children. My son was also seen by one of the other three pediatricians in the practice, Dr. Segal. She, too, is great. She first saw our son in the hospital just after he was born. She was very thorough and made us feel at ease being new parents, i.e., no question was a stupid question. I highly recommend both of them. I don't have any experience with the other pediatrician in the office, Dr. Bussey. The website is www.childrenswellnesscenter.com.

I wish you well in your search!

We are with North Atlantic Pediatric's (www.northatlantapeds.com) and we LOVE them. Our 2 primary doctors are Dr. Elizabeth LeDuc and Dr. Susan Harrell but we have seen all the nurse practitioners as well as the other 4 doctors in the practice. We really love them all. They take time for us with visits, have never made me feel awkward or stupid for asking questions and really love kids!
I can't say enough good things about them. Good luck!
