I would love any recommendations for good pediatricians in the Castle Rock area. Here are my questions: What is the name of your pediatrician? Information to contact them? Why would you recommend them? (patient with your kid, easy to talk to, love their philosophy, took after hour calls, etc.?)

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
I just had my first baby in March and I would definately recommend either Dr. Alan F. Stage, Dr. Judy F. Bloomberg, or Dr. Heeley. They are located at 1 Oakwood Park, Suite 101, Castle Rock, CO 80104. The Telephone number is ###-###-####.

One of the reasons this doctor's office appealed to me was the fact that there are two enterences to the doctors office, a well patient side and a sick patient side. This makes me feel a little bit better that my baby won't get sick when I take him into get his well baby check up.

There are also 3 wonderful doctors available to choose from. We typically go to Dr. Stage, but sometimes on his days off we may see one of the other doctors. My little one had jaundice when he was born so we had to go into the doctors office daily for a while to get his billirubin checked. So we have actually seen all three of these wonderful people. They are all so kind, and have a wonderful way of working with babies. I really have enjoyed my interactions with all three of them. I also like that they accept after hour calls. I have actually used this twice already and my little one is only 2 months old. (I'm a parnoid first time mom!)

I actually interviewed another doctor before I had my baby, but this particular doctor made me nervous, and I didn't even have a baby that I was bringing in, let alone a sick baby. So I changed my mind last minute and decided to have Dr. Stage as my pediatrition. He has a lot of experience, and a way that eases your mind about things. I was worried that he wouldn't be accepting any new patients because I thought that he might be close to retirement, but that's not the case. If and when he does retire, I plan on just switching over to Dr. Bloomberg. It should be an easy switch since they are partners.

If you have time, I'm sure they would be open to a prenatal interview. We didn't actually interview any of them, they just came highly recommended by many of my coworkers. In fact, one of my coworkers told me that she use to bring her daughter to Dr. Stage, and now her daughter is bringing her own kids to him! He seems to be highly respected.

I recommend that you do go and interview a few if you have the time. Sometimes I thik you need to find out if your personalities are compatable. I needed someone who wouldn't make me anxious. I think that some doctors just have a more calming personality then others. So interviewing a few might help ease your mind and help you to make an informed decision.

I hope this helps.

L.

We really like Perry Street Pediatrics in CR and have been taking our twin girls there since they were born in October. ###-###-####. We've seen both Dr. Dave Thomas and Dr. Peggy Sheehan. Dr. Sheehan is our main doctor and is very open to a more natural approach and to homeopathics. We opted to wait a few years on vaccines and she was VERY supportive. She is calm and soothing with our girls, and respectful of them as little humans and of us as parents. She talks directly to the babies and explains to them what she is doing. She's great! Also, the clinic is small and intimate; we've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes! Definitely interview physicians to decide who works well for you.

We see Dr. Healy in the same practice that was already recommended. I have also seen Dr. Bloomberg on the weekend when my baby spit up blood! That was scary and she was awesome and made everything very easy on me. Long story short, the blood was from my sore breast, but it was an alarming situation. I really like the small family feeling of this practice and the fact that they tend to offer a couple of solutions to every problem before just scratching off a prescription.

The well and sick entrances are a huge bonus. I swear that everytime I took my son to our old ped for a well check he would come home sick!! That has never happened with Dr. Healy.

Good luck, this is a big decision.

Partners in Pediatrics is an excellent physician group -- south office just relocated to Lincoln @ 25, just about 10 minutes for me from the Meadows. Contact info:

9785 Maroon Circle, #G104
Englewood, CO 80112
Phone: ###-###-####
Fax: ###-###-####

I love this practice because every doc and pa is traditionally trained and certified but also carries additional training in holistic/natural modalities of treatment. They have homeopathic remedies available right there in the office, but are also quick to point out when you need to jump in with traditional meds.

A nice option if you like to limit your child's expsoure to chemical medicines and/or prefer an alternate vaccine schedule. Good luck!

K.,
I highly recommend Perry Street Pediatrics ###-###-####, 1001 S. Perry Street Suite 101A, Castle Rock. My three kids see Dr. Thomas and Dr. Lurie. We moved here from out of state and these doctors came highly recommended by two of our neighbors that also use the practice. I feel very comfortable with both these doctors, my son loves Dr. Thomas and he can always make him laugh even when he is feeling sick. Dr. Thomas just makes you feel comfortable and he is very patient with the kids. Dr. Lurie is great too! I have always been able to get appointments even when I call that day, and I never have had to wait a long time to be seen. I have had to use their after hours message system and Dr. Thomas returned our call within 15 minutes! The nurses are great and so is the office staff. I would personally interview a few of the practices and go with who you feel comfortable with. Best of luck with your new baby!!

Dr. Alan Stage, Castle ROck, ###-###-#### is also another good Dr to look into. During "emegency" situations he is available to see if a trip to the ER can be avoided. When my son was very sick he even stopped by the house at the end of his work day to check on him after seeing him in the office that morning.

You may want to visit a few different practices to make your final decision as you want to have a positve relationship with open communication as you will be using a pediatrician for a long time! In the end, go with your gut instinct! Good Luck!
