My husband and I are wanting to enroll our son, who will be 2 in February, part-time into a pre-school in Mckinney, TX. We are looking at Heritage Learning Center, Kids R Kids, and Faith Christian Academy. I've heard bad things about Primrose and Children's Lighthouse, but does anyone have any referrals or comments about the schools we're looking into or know of any other good pre-schools in Mckinney, TX?

What can I do next?

J.-
Both my boys (4 and 2) attend First Baptist McKinney and love it. I was hestitant to send my 2yo since he just turned 2 in Nov but he so enjoys it. The teachers are amazing and the director is the nicest person you will ever meet. The ratios are great 10 to 3 in the 2yo class and 13 to 3 in the 4yo's class. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. You can call now to be put on the waiting list since the registration is going on for those who attend now. Good luck with your search.

I live in Mckinney and have heard nothing bad about Primrose. However, I have NEVER heard anything good about Heritage. My 16 month old son has been going to Ivy Glen since he was 11 weeks old and we have been pleased. We are hoping to get him into Good Sheperd Mont. School in the fall. There are several great preschools at different churches in McKinney; Stonebridge UMC, Good News Christian Church, Our Saviour Luthern (I think that's the name, on Virgina near 75), and also the big church on 121 @ Lake Forrest/Stacey Road (I can't remember the name at the moment). Hope this helps.

Hi J.~

I live new to area and live in Frisco, so am no help to you with recommendations. However, I did want to ask you about Primrose - you heard was "bad." And was it just a Primrose in McKinney and/or the franchise.

My oldest went to a Primrose for a couple months when we lived in Florida and I just "assumed" the quality was here as well. I, too am looking to for part-time care as I toy with going back to work and want the boys to be safe.

Good luck with your endeavor! Thanks for your insight about Primrose and/or any other school.

I just checked out Kids R Kids this morning for my 15 month old. It was an excellent facility and I would enroll my son but they only have full time for children under 2. Very reasonable fees and video monitoring. I suggest you visit them.

Hi J.,
I wanted to let you know about my in-home day care. I am a mother of a 21 month old little girl and I take care of two little boys that are 12mo & 11mo. I have a spot avaiable for either full time or 3 day wk. We live in Allen, but will be moving to McKinney in April upon completion of our new home.

I have wroked with children for many years. Married 5 years to a wonderful man. Brittney is our first child (21mo)
We are a Christian home <><

Let me know if you are interested. I know my daughter would be so happy to have a play mate her age. They can run around together and be good friends.
