Looking for Orthodontist

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for orthodontists in the Denver area. My daughter needs braces, but I want to get more than one opinion on how to approach it... one ortho who we consulted with wants to pull some teeth, I want to get other opinions on whether or not it's necessary first.

What can I do next?

Dr. Andrew Dunbar in Castle Pines North will give you a free consultation. We have been very pleased with him.

Hi M.,
Try Dr Greg Lindsay. He has an office off Dry Creek and one in Castle Rock. We visited 4 orthos before deciding on him. Most of them wanted to yank teeth and start expanding at 8 years old. Lindsay said teeth are the best place holders. He used a retainer for 2 of my kids to get teeth out of cross bite and then monitored them. My oldest just got his braces on at 11. He also believes in typically doing one treatment versus two rounds. I see kids at school who have braces on at 7! I've read and know someone personally who had braces on at an early age and that damaged the roots of her teeth.

One other critical thing to do is make sure the ortho does concentric modeling (molds and models to see how one change will impact the other things and ultimately the bite). My dentist says he sees lots of straight teeth with messed up bites because they don't do this.

Good luck.
S.

We love Drs. Nick and Barb Moyer. I went there as a kid for all my teeth and orthodontia and now our kids go. They are great! I can't find their number right now, but they're in the phone book. Pulling teeth is very common. I had teeth pulled and I still can't use and adult x-ray. Sometimes there's just no other way to make room.

Hi, My 14 year son old just got braces put on this summer with Weddle Orthodontics. They are located in Westminster on Huron St. just North of 120th avenue. My son was also told by a previous Ortho that he would either need 2-4 adult teeth removed because of his small jaw, or possibly head gear. After seeing Dr. Weddle he said he didn't need either, he is in conventional braces and is responding really well. He has a very nice staff as well. So its good to get another opinion. Good luck!

Do a consolt with three orthos, get their treatment plans for your kiddo, take it all to your pediatric dentist and see what they say. They know your child and their mouth. The big question? IF it was their child which plan would they go with?

Dr. Greg Dietmeier, Dietmeier Orthodontics, at Hampden and Oneida in southeast denver. He's wonderful and his staff are great with my daughter. Pulling teeth before braces is very very common, by the way. In a narrow jaw, they have to make room for the teeth to move, and for the new molars to come in. I had 4 adult teeth pulled before I started braces at age 9 and still had two wisdom teeth pulled as an adult, for example.
take care, S.

I worked for an ortho in Ft. Collins (i know that's the wrong area sorry!) but I would strongly suggest finding an ortho who uses the "Damon system" of braces it is a lot less painful for your daughter and a lot more likely that they wont have to pull teeth (it may be nessicary anyway it depends on her case) but if you google Damon orthodontists in denver i think it will give you some options.

If you want ANY info on Damons and why they're "better" please e-mail me I'd love to help! ____@____.com

From my PERSONAL experience....don't use Comfort Smile. Not worth it.
Also, when I was little and had braces (the first time, sigh) they did pull teeth. That's not unusual. Tho, the last time I had braces they 'shaved' two of my teeth to make them 'thinner'. I am still uncomfortable with this procedure. It just doesn't sound 'right'. So ask about all the procedures involved. Also ask if there are options for ones you're not comfortable with.
Hope that helps.

her is what i learned..... i went to 10 different orthos. why so many, because they all had a different way of treatment. and at your daughters age she might go though what they call stages of braces. you familt dentist should have a list of places that offer free consultaions and you should go with who you feel most comfortable with.
i have been with my same dentist since i was 15 and now my whole family goes there it is DENVER FAMILY DENTAL ON 18th & EMERSON ###-###-#### DR. JENNY TIRADA
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

I recommend Scott Ohmart. He has a great sense of humor and is easy going. He has two offices, one in the area of University and Arapahoe and the other on the west side of town. I just finished a year with him in Invisalign and couldn't be happier with the result and his office. I have watched him with the younger patients and he is fabulous. I will be taking my daughter to him when the time comes.
