I am looking for a new OB/GYN who is affiliated with Community Hospital in Munster, IN. I moved here last year and I didn't like the doctor I saw last year. I felt like I was being rushed through my exam. He also told me he didn't like the form of birth control I had selected with the advice of my OB after my daughter was born. He didn't really explain why he didn't like it and he just gave me a brochure printed in 1996. Anyway, I am looking for a new doctor and we are wanting to try to get pregnant again. I need someone who can remove the IUD safely and effectively and also be my OB when the time is right. My insurance only covers Community Hospital so I need someone affiliated there. With my daughter, we experienced infertility issues but are praying we don't have to worry about that. Please tell me anyone who you really liked or if there is someone who I should stay away from. Thank you in advance for your help!

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the responses!! I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Howard Marcus. I really liked him. He was gentle and informative. He answered all my questions and took my history into account when asking about getting pregnant again. The nurse was great too!! Now that we are trying again, we just hope and pray that we can get pregnant again quickly.

Dr. Varsha Desai is on Calumet Avenue in Munster. She is affiliated with Community Hospital and is wonderful. Both of my sisters had very high risk pregnancies and saw her. Between them they now have 7 perfect little girls. I was 40 when I had my second daughter. Dr. Desai gave me all the medical information necessary without scaring me. She gave me all my options and listed all the tests available to me along with both risks and benefits of each so that my husband and I could choose what to do. She never pushed us into anything or filled us with a bunch of gloom and doom. I now have two beautiful little girls thanks to Dr. Desai. I would highly recommend her. And good luck to you.

I see Dr. Howard Marcus, his new office is located behind the Steak-n-Shake on Indianapolis. He is wonderful and has an awesome staff! I've had 2 c-sections and never had any problems! My incision is small and perfectly straight, and you can't tell that I've been cut twice! Even though we moved 25 minutes away, I still travel to see him. His office number is ###-###-####. I have recommended him to friends, and so far everyone I know loves him!! He really is a great doctor! Good luck!

I LOVED my Ob/Gyn and he most definitely works out of Community in Munster. His name is Dr. Hamburg and he is wonderful. Very no nonsense and to the point, but compassionate as well. I saw him at a very difficult time (I got pregnant very soon after losing my 2 month old son) and he was amazing. I never felt rushed and no matter what crazy questions I had he never made me feel silly. I also really liked all the ladies that worked in the office and after seeing a doctor who had HORRIBLE people working in her office I can attest to the importance of this! PM me if you would like his phone number.

I used to see Dr. Nirmala and I loved her. I too was with her since I was a teen. She delivered my first son and I loved her but unfortunately for my second son she advised me that she was no longer delivering babies so if you dont need that aspect of treatment she is great.

Currently I am under the care of Dr. I Zabaneh, he delivered my second son, and I also like him. He is very easy to speak to and his staff is great. He has offices in Munster and Merrillville I believe.

My daughter was born last May and the doctor I chose was Dr. Varsha Desai. Her office is located on Calumet Avenue across from the Target. My daughter was my first full-term pregnancy as I lost my first baby after 15 weeks. Dr. Desai reassured me throughout my pregnancy and her nurse Kathy was the best. When others asked me who my doctor was I got some kind of funny look or sly remark from them, but I didn't have much of a problem with her. Maybe it was my nerves or hormones on delivery day, but the only problem I has was the day of my delivery. My daughter ended up being breech and I had to have an emergency C-section. Things moved very quickly and she wasn't as informative as I wanted or needed her to be, but my daughter was fine and born within 3 minutes of her making that decision.

Good luck!

I second the reccomendation of Dr. Hamburg! I cannot say enough good things about him. He's honest, calm, has a great sense of humor, never makes you feel like your questions are silly, and spends actual office time with you. He was my OB 3 years ago when I was pg with my son and delivered him at Community. While I'm not a big fan of that hospital, if you have to be there, he's the Dr. to have. He kept the nurses off my back and made the delivery just wonderful. Good luck to you - here's hoping for a second miracle!

I also don't want to doctor bash. But, Dr. Hamburg delivered my first child. I loved him as a doctor, probably because he complimented me all of the time. But, as far as delivery it was bad! My family felt like they were talked down to, it ended up being an emergency section after hours and hours of labor. The surgery was bad and took a very long time to recover. I would really think about looking into someone else!

For my second child I had Dr. Zabaneh off Ridge in Munster....###-###-####.

I loved him, his staff, and the surgery received so many high marks from nurses (the incision).
