We're having a double birthday party next weekend and I'm looking to try some new recipes. I'm serving hot beef sandwiches but I need ideas for appetizers, side dishes and desserts. Any good recipes to share? Thanks!!

Try cucumber and onion salad simple. Cut up cucumbers in coins, cut onion in bite size pieces mix hellmanns mayo salt and pepper to taste, a easy and really good side dish. I brought it to a party it was gone very quickly and lots of people said my Mom used to make this. Have fun A. L

D.,
My sister-in-law brought this dish over yesterday for our Memorial Day BBQ. At first glance, you may think exactly what I thought....grapes, sour cream, a butterfinger??? It wasn't until I tried it that I realized how delicious this was! Here's the recipe for GRAPE SALAD:
4 lbs. of grapes 8 oz. sour cream 1/2 c. sugar
8 oz softened cream cheese 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla 1 crushed butterfinger

Mix all ingredients together except the grapes & butterfinger. Mix grapes last & sprinkle butterfinger on top. ENJOY!

I have a great and easy cheesecake recipe, that you make with Crescent Rolls (2 packages), 2 (8oz) Cream cheese, Sugar (1 cup), Egg yolk (1, save egg white to brush over top), vanilla (1 teas.)
Press one pack of crescent rolls in the bottom of a 9x13 pan, ungreased. Cream: cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Spread on top of crescent rolls, top with additional package of crecent rolls (I use a cutting board to press all the seams together to the top piece. It makes it easier to place on top. Brush egg white ontop and sprinkle with a few TBS of additional sugar and nuts (optional-I opt out on the nuts).

I get so many compliments on this dessert, give it a try.

Caprese skewers are always a hit (and easy to make). Get small skewers and put on a cherry tomato, small cube of fresh mozzarella cheese and basil leaf. Drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette right before serving.

There is also a great pasta salad recipe in the current issue of Martha Stewart Everyday Food: box of pasta like rotini, can of rinsed white beans, 3/4 cup goat cheese, couple handfuls of arugula, 1/2 small red onion sliced, tossed with a red wine dijon vinaigrette. Mmmmmmm!

Hi D.,
These are great. I mix them together the night before and cook the day of. They take an hour to cook maybe a bit longer until they are golden brown on top. I get rave review from them, the potatoes will disappear before you know it. Enjoy!

Cheesy Potatoes

2 cans (10¾ ounces each) condensed cream of potato soup, undiluted
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 package (2 pounds) frozen hash brown potatoes
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

In a large bowl, combine the soup, sour cream and garlic salt. Add potatoes and cheddar cheese; mix well. Pour into a greased 13x9 baking dish. Top with Parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350º for 55-60 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

(I doubled this recipe for Thanksgiving and used a larger baking dish, or two dishes.

I make a pasta salad that everyone seems to love. I use the tri-color rotini pasta. Make as usual & rinse with cold water. Drain & add whatever you like. I just eyeball the amounts of add-ins, based on how much pasta I make. I usually use:

Finely chopped green pepper
Finely chopped red onion
Diced tomato
Chopped black olives
+ a generous amount of Italian salad dressing

You could also add salami or cheese cubes

Good luck, and have fun!

Appetizers I would reccommend: Little finger foods such as : Piggies in a blanket (Vinnea sausages rolled up in buisits and baked),Pizza rolls, etc

Side Dishes: Egg Salad, Potato Salad,

Dessert: Frape': Sherbert (any flavor) in a bowl with ginger ale added. Allow the shebert to soften when the ginger ale is poured over it but you don't want it completely dissolved. This has been a mainstay at Church Teas I've attend and the first dessert to grabbed up.

This is SO yummy, SO easy and inexpensive: 1 package of cream cheese (softened), 1 can of Hormel Chilli with NO beans, and a bag of shredded cheddar cheese. Spread the cream cheese in the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking pan (do not spray), pour on the hormel chilli with no beans and top with shredded cheese. Put in the oven at 350 until the cheese is melted. Throw some tortilla chips in a bowl and voila--chips and dip!!

HI,

Kraft has a real good pasta salad recipe. And it's very easy to make. All you need is the tri color pasta, feta cheese, cucumbers cut with skin, cherry tomatoes, black olives, red onions, and kraft zesty italian dressing. very simple and easy. A real good appetizer is a bean dip. All you need is cram cheese, 1 can hormel chili, shredded cheese. Spread cream cheese in casserole dish, pour chili over cream cheese, cover with shredded cheese and heat in microwave just till the cheese starts to melt. Serve with tortilla chips. Another appetizer is a cheese ball dip. All you need is cream cheese, beef budding meat and green onion. Cut budding meat or put in chopper, do the same with the green onion and mix in to the cream cheese. Shape into a ball and serve with crackers. I use wheatables. Good luck and enjoy!!

Here is a super easy recipe that is really good and every time I bring it folks love it:
Take 1 container of cherry tomatoes and cut them all in half
Coarsely chop fresh basil (about 4-5 tablespoons), add to tomatoes
Chop about 4 green onions, add to other ingredients
Crumble and add about 6 ounces of feta cheese.
Lightly coat all ingredients in Kraft Greek Vinagrette

Make it at least 30 minutes in advance so the flavors have time to mix. This doesn't make enough for a party so I've used 3 or more containers of tomatoes before and then increased other ingredients too, just taste as you go.
