I know I can donate stuff to goodwill but I'd like to give my bjorn (and a few other things) to a Mother that perhaps couldn't afford one. It's used but still works great. Anyone know of an organization that can point me in the right direction??

Thanks!

What about a women's shelter or a crisis pregnancy clinic?

I am keeping my old one to pass on to friends, also.

ETA: I really like JustWed's idea of offering it to Social Services for Foster parents, too!

Perhaps you could look in your area for a battered women's shelter. We have one here and I know they can always use stuff like this. Or even your local Dept of Social Services. They likely have Foster Parents who need this kind of thing on extremely short notice.

There is a battered women's shelter that I am active in that is always looking for donations. www.nurturingchange.org

Thank you for considering those in need. I hope your child(ren) follow your altruistic example.

Project Cuddle is a good organization that would help it find a home where it is needed.

you could try freecycle.org. That is one way that you will know who gets it. Otherwise look in the yellow pages or online search for a women's shelter or pregnancy crisis center near you. Sorry, I don't have any specifec place to recommend as I do not live in your state.

Why does it matter what mother gets it? As long as they can use it and Goodwill doesn't charge that much. If you're worrying about somebody spending a few dollars...put it on Craigslist and give it away. It's not that big of deal.

I sell everything to Children's Orchard.

Anyone will take anything for free and maybe not use it. My parents will take ANYTHING if it's free and then it piles up in their garage and no one gets to use it.

If I sell it to Children's Orchard, then I get minimal money, but someone gets to buy it for a fraction of what I bought it for...and I know they are going to use it.

Contact your local birth center (hospital). They work with a lot of women in all stages of life. That's where I donated all the free baby formula I received.

You could offer it up on freecycle.

Try Catholic Charities, they give away all items donated to women in need

Are you speaking of a Bjorn baby carrier? I am not certain a store will accept it, due to liability.

When I last donated to our County Family Service - Child Haven Division, they would not accept any type of carrier, car seat, bed safety rail or anything else in that nature, however, Catholic Charities took them.. Call first.
