I'm looking for a midwife who does home birth after c-section. I want to have this baby at home, and naturally. Anybody have experiences with this? Tell me about it!

Hi T., I have not done a vbac before but am seeing some great midwives right now for my second pregnancy. There center is called 'a gentle beginning' and have a website online you can check out. They are very well qualified (CNM's to say the least!) and I am pleased with their level of care and commitment. I plan to have my second child (now 26 weeks) at home, and am hoping for as wonderful of a birth as I had with my first son.

oh- and PLEASE don't use Andaluz... there reputation precedes them as being unsafe and unpredictable.

I can tell you that as a doula I have worked with Andaluz, and know that I have personally checked out their credentials, asked them tough questions and went more in depth to their "reputation". I also have high regard for Linda Glenn and the two places she works. I would suggest ICAN as well. Much of the decision as to whether to support your choice by a qualified midwife will be based on the reason for yout C-section(s), the type of incision, how far along you were when they decided to deliver your baby surgically etc. Please be sure that you are most forthcoming with your midwive of choice so that she can make the best decisions with you.
As for wanting to minimize the footprints you leave on this earth, how noble; in a world where everyone is striving to make their mark!

Hi T.. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am a doula and vbac mom myself, however, I did not use a homebirth midwife and think you may better be able to find a referral from ICAN. (International Cesarean Awareness Network) There is a local group in Portland and many of the mothers there have used homebirth midwives.
As a doula, I have worked with Linda Glenn, CNM who is a homebirth midwife and a very respected midwife who practices at OHSU as well. Her patients really seem to trust her and she trusts a woman's body. I believe her info. would be easy to find with a google search. Hope this helps.
