Hi N.,
You didn't mantion where you live but there is a really gret place near me in Arlington Heights called Little Village Play Place. It's sort of like Kohl's Childrens museum but on a much much smaller scale but it can wear out the kids non-the-less. I think it's $7 admission for all day if you like. They also have a little snack bar. McDonalds Play Lands are great too and it's free! Hope this helps.

I had mentioned the Palatine YMCA, which has the indoor play maze but I have found out since that you have to be a member to use it!

I just found a few more places for you to try:
Lake Zurich (gymnastics center with open gym times):
http://www.usgtclz.com/og.htm

Barrington (gymnastics center with open gym times):
http://www.kiaga.com/pages/2/index.htm

Lake Zurich (Ela area Library has a play area and some good programs, sometimes drop-in):
http://www.eapl.org/

If you have 15 1/2 month old son, say...then here are some places to check out! ;o) (If this is who I think it is?!)

Arlington heights:
http://www.littlevillageplayplace.com/index.htm

Mundelein:
http://www.pretendplayground.com/

Elk Grove Village:
http://www.elkgroveparks.org/pavilion.asp?id=222

If this is not close enough than ask for a specific location and someone might know of other places. You should also pick up an Oaklee's Guide from your local library. Your local Library may also have free storytimes for tots which end with a little open playtime. You can also check out local Parenting groups through the guide online: http://www.oakleesguide.com/parenting.htm

I hope some of this helps.

Hi
Have you tried your local park district? I hadn't thought of it, & when I received the program brochure, I was surprised by the amount of drop-in toddler & kid programs offered at mine (I'm in Hanover park) and at the local neighborhoods (Bartlett, Carol Stream, etc.).
hope this helps!

Not sure where you are located but you can visit Kohl's Children Museum in Glenview, IL or visit the Pretend Playground in Mundelein, IL. The latter doesn't allow outside food-so may not be suitable if you have an infant/toddler that eats on a different schedule than an older child.

Hope you find some fun locations.

I take my daughter to "Jumps 'n Giggles". It is located in the Elk Grove Village Park District Pavilion on Biesterfield.

Gymboree is great, as is Kohl's. Both are worth checking out.

Peace,

I think there is a gymboree in Crystal Lake. Otherwise, I know that Huntley has a Parent-Tot center open to residents. If you are not in Huntley, try your local community center.

Hi N.,
I noticed your post about indoor play areas while I glanced over at the box that says...
In the Spotlight. Even though, you asked this question last summer, I thought I'd still let you know about a place in Naperville called Odyssey Fun World..Sometimes they have buy one get one free admission for the play area on their website. Anyway... this place is huge and parents can sit or play. Either way I felt safe there knowing my kids could not leave the play area unless a worker "buzzed" the door to open it. This place is right off the expressway and it only took me 30 minutes from Arlington Heights. It's HUGE--They really can get their energy used up here!

You could try Little Village Playplace in Arlington Heights. I believe the rate is around $7.00 per day. It is a pretend playplace meaning that there are several rooms that are decorated to be different things like a grocery store a vet's office, an ice cream shop and so on. It is really cute and fun for the kids. A friend of mine had their child's cirthday party there. I don't have all the info on it, but it seemed pretty good for all ages. My daughter is 16 months and there were older kids there too. They all had a blast. I'm sure you could find it on the internet or in the phone book. It's off of Northwest Hwy in Arlington Heights.

HI N.-

I'm not sure where the is one near you, but in Crystal Lake there's a place called Pump It Up. It's a lot of "moon walks". (The giant bouncy rides at carnivals or that people rent for birthdays). I'm pretty sure they have open time. You can also check a gymnastics place in your area. Sometimes they offer toddler open gyms during the day.

The Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview is AWESOME. It's brand new (they just moved from -- I can't remember where, but somewhere a little further East). It's pay as you go, or you can purchase a membership. Here's the website: http://www.kohlchildrensmuseum.org/
