We will be having a small Halloween party for young kids and would like to serve them an easy, but cleverly Halloweenish dinner before trick or treating. Any ideas? I am looking for things that are not too gross or scary. THANKS in advance for your great ideas!`

Another fun thing to do if there aren't too many children is to make a small pumpkin for each child. Cut the top off and scoop out the inside and fill it with butterscotch, chocolate, or vanilla pudding (which you can color orange or black) and fill the pumpkins. The kiddos can eat this with plastic spoons that you can usually get in a halloween theme!

You can also melt white chocolate in a pan and drip it into ghost like shapes on wax paper. Add tiny chocolate morsels for eyes and put in freezer to harden. After an hour or so you can peel them off of the wax paper for fun little ghosts snacks! :)

And I'm not sure how high your "gross" meter is...lol. But another fun thing to do is peel grapes and cherry/grape tomatoes and put them in a bowl. Serve each child eyeballs for a great snack! (**Hint to peel them easily, just cut a small X on the end of each grape or tomatoe and put them in BOILING water for about 20 seconds. After this the skin will literally slide right off!!) Good luck and have lots of fun! :)

One cute idea is to take a pumpkin, draw a cute face on it with different colored permanent markers, then take kabobs and skewer them with cheeses, little hotdogs, or fruits (whatever the kids like) and then poke them all over the top of the pumpkin which will look like the pumpkin's crazy hair! Kids will love it!

Spider cupcakes: bake some cupcakes, then frost them with chocolate frosting, put an oreo cookie on top of it (for the spider's body) then put two little dots of frosting on on top of the cookie and place two small candies on it for eyes, then take skinny pieces of licorice and tuck them under the oreo coming out the sides for it's legs. So cute and so yummy!

Popcorn hands: Take some clear disposable gloves (not the rubber kind, those would be yucky!) fill them with popcorn and tie them closed, each kid can get a creepy hand (filled with popcorn!)

You can also make some punch made with gingerale and green sherbert so that their punch will be green.

Those are just a few ideas we have done in the past, you can find tons and tons of ideas on the internet, good luck!

Hi, I have a variation on the spider cupcakes. I like to use red velvet cake mix, so the insides of the spiders are red :0), and I put chocolate frosting on them, chocolate sprinkles (hair), redhots for eyes, and use the skinny chocolate licorice for the legs. I just poke the licorice into the cupcakes so they will stay on. My kids absolutely adore these, and I have to make them every year! Hope this helps.

Lindsey's pumpkin kabob is adorable, I've done it too. Also, do an internet search for "dinner in a pumpkin" (i have the recipe somewhere). You can make a hearty stew or jambalaya and bake it right in a carved out pumpkin. When you serve it, cut some pumpkin off the top and serve it like a piece of bread for sopping. It's great!!!
As for the bowl of punch, take a couple of latex gloves (rinse them well to get the dust off) freeze it with water to make large ice cubes. Then, cut the glove off and you have "hands" floating in your punch. Cute!
