Hello, I am looking for a great pediatrician in the Kirkwood area. I'd like to find one that could possibly grow with my child for the next 18 years, without the threat of retiring. I'd love to find one with a kid-friendly waiting room that has a sick room as well. A supportive office staff is a great bonus too! I'd like to find one close to home which is in the Kirkwood area and is affiliated with St. John's Hospital. I've noticed Blue Fish Pediatrics opened up behind Barnes & Noble on Manchester. Anyone heard of them or can vouch for them? Any recommendations would be appreciative (along with your 2cents!)

What can I do next?

I will second the suggestion of Dr. Atteberry. My little boy is 8 months old and we have seen him since day one. We have been very pleased with him and the other doctors we have seen in his practice. He takes the time you need, answers all questions without making you feel they are dumb questions, and is very personable. He is also a young doctor so no chance of retirement. Hope you find someone you are happy with soon.
Good Luck!

Cindy Willbrand is great.
Dr. Wessling is good too.
I have also seen Mary Hart, but we prefer Cindy the best!
No sick room or anything like that, but great staff, very helpful when calling. They are very busy, but will get to you as soon as they can. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I love our peditrician and she is in Crestwood on Watson at Sturdy. Her name is K. Norton and she is in the Esse Health office. We have also seen a few of her partners from time to time and have liked them also. Her number is ###-###-####. We have used her since my oldest was born (he is 4 and a half). My sister also uses her and we were referred to her by my cousin. Her staff is great to work with...the kids love them.

Love Bluefish. They don't have a sick room but they try to get you back in an exam room pronto so you aren't exposed to other people's stuff. The new office is really nice. Greg FInn is phenomenal. We personally see Hayley Wurzel and they also have another young woman Jennifer Arter. I am a physician and these are the docs I take my kids to.

Blue Fish Pediatrics is FANTASTIC! Dr. Finn and the other doctors in his team are beyond wonderful. They're caring, informative and set my mind at ease every time I think one of my children has some rare life threatening disease. In fact, Finn has been one of the highest ranked pediatricians in the St. Louis area. I can't imagine taking my children anywhere else. In fact, we're planning to move all the way out to Lake St. Louis in the next year, and we're STILL taking our kids to Blue Fish. The trip in for the staff there is worth it.

I take all three of my kids to Blue Fish (Dr Finn) and I love them! I live in Imperial and drive to them because Dr Finn is so great. All of the office staff are really nice and I have never had any problems. There are 3 doctors total in the practice and from what I hear the other two Female doctors are equally as nice if you would rather have a female doctor. Dr. Finn knows how to talk to my kids and how to explain things to us.

Hi M.! I am new to the area, and found a great pediatrician. The practice is Metropolitan Pediatrics, and the doctor I use is Janett Powers. She is young, doesn't even have kids of her own yet. The kids and I love her. The office is off of Watson Road (almost in Sunset Hills). Good luck w/ your new bundle of joy!

I know you've already received several positive reviews of Blue Fish Pediatrics but I can't say enough good things about them - and Dr. Finn, specifically. He has the most calming "bedside manner". Just yesterday I received the St. Louis magazine's annual Best Doctors issue. All three doctors in the practice are listed. I don't know if you're more interested in a female doctor (since you have girls) but I've heard particularly good things about Dr. Arter. Good luck!

We love our ped, Elizabeth Diehl. Her office is off Watson Rd across from Davids Bridal. The offic staff is wonderful and they have a 24 hour nurses hotline - you always speak with a nurse and they are very helpful. Dr. Diehl if very attentive and takes her time with you. They have seperate sick rooms so your not sitting there waiting for a well child check up with sick kids. We are really happy there. The office is SSM Medical Group at 3555 Sunset Office Dr.
Good luck, this can be a dountign task.

We've been going to Blue Fish for almost 3 years (they use to be a couple of miles East on Manchester). The office is nice enough, but nothing fancy. The waiting room has a beanbag area with books and mirrors (which my 9 month old enjoys) and there is usually a kids movie playing, but not much in the way of toys. The staff is friendly enough, but mainly we keep going because we love Dr. Finn. He's very attentive and patient with the children. He never acts as if he's just trying to race off for his next patient and he always seems happy to answer my millions of questions at each well check(plus we enjoy his dry, quirky sense of humor :) I'm not sure if they have a sick room at the new office, but I know the old office did not. I don't know if this is helpful, but that's my two cents... Good Luck!

i also like Esse Health on Watson. My daughter sees Dr. Peter Putnam there. He is very attentive, listens to your concerns, takes his time with you, and explains everything thoroughly. We saw one other Dr. there once when Dr. Putnam was out and she was also very attentive, etc. There is a separate room for well babies, i believe.

Dr. Karen Norton at Essee Health on Watson is fabulous. Everyone there is wonderful. We have seen Dr. Putnum and Dr. Terril there as well. They really go the extra mile. I have been through 3 pediatricians (I'm pretty picky) and I can't say enough positive things about this practice. The number is 314-965-KIDS.

My daughter has seen one of the doctor's in Blue Fish for 6 years. I love them, but as far as I know no sick room. I haven't had to have her in there since her 5 yr check up...luckily she's a very healthy girl...but I've had great luck there.

My kids go to Dr. Kristen Terrill at ESSE Pediatrics on Watson, near Kirkwood Road. Phone number is 314-965-KIDS. Their pediatrician is young (probably early 30s) with young children of her own. The practice has several doctors, and they have ALWAYS squeezed my sick child in. They have Saturday hours, and during last winter's flu season, they had Sunday hours. Yes, their waiting room has a separate area for babies and is very kid-friendly--no other dr. offices for this waiting room. They're right next door to an imaging center, so if you need an x-ray, it's convenient. The staff is very nice and responds to requests (for records, etc.) quickly and nicely. I couldn't be happier! Good luck with your new baby coming home and your "old" baby leaving--how bittersweet that much be!

I have a ped. who is located right at the intersection of Gravois and 270... so not quite Kirkwood, but close! They have a kid friendly waiting room w/ toys, etc... but no sick room. They do schedule all newborn appointments at the same time of day, without overlap of older kiddos, so you aren't in the waiting room with anyone who is sick. He is part of St. Johns and he is young - mid thirties - he has a few young children of his own and is very nice. The nurse practitioner is very helpful and all of the staff are nice and supportive (there are also 3-4 other peds in the practice). If you have an emergency, they guarantee to get you in on the same day you call. His name is Dr. Atteberry and I have loved my experience with everyone in the office. Good luck!

Another response on Blue Fish. We got to Dr. Jennifer Arter and followed her from Clayton Children's Clinic out to Blue Fish even though we live in the CWE so Blue Fish is NOT convenient for us. Dr. Arter is pretty young so I really doubt she'll be retiring any time soon. She was also the Chief Resident at Children's Hospital during her residency if pedigree matters to you. She's also really lovely and we clearly like. We also just saw Dr. Wurzel (I think that's her name) on Tuesday when Dr. Arter was out of the office, she was very nice also. I have not seen Dr. Finn but apparently everyone on here likes him.

From what I can tell, they are building a sick child entrance at the current location, it's just not done yet. Good luck!

We also go to Dr. Diehl and LOVE her! The phone number for their office is ###-###-####. They have a sick kid entrance and there are 5 ped's in the office, 2 of which I know are pretty young (Marusic and Power). Their regular waiting room has toys and books, and the whole office is painted like places around the world (e.g. there's a Spain room with a bull and matador on the wall). We really like the nurses too, as well as the 24-hour nurse line.
