Looking for Good Parenting Book

I am looking for some suggestions for a good parenting book. Specifically, I want something that addresses behavior & discipline for two, three & four-year-old ages. I like using positive reinforcement & reward systems such as charts with stickers & such. I am also a big believer in logical consequences, i.e., if you color on something of someone's, I will color on something of yours. I would love suggestions for a parenting book that aligns with these ideas...any thoughts??? Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for their great responses! Lots of people suggested Love & Logic so that's where I am going to start, but I am definitely going to check out a few of the others as well! I know that blending some ideas together & making sure that I use what works best for each child will be best for all of us!

I use Love and Logic by Charles and Jim Fay. It's really simple and easy to understand.
I ordered the book online. Good luck.

What about reading the book that came with the baby? lol. sorry...couldn't resist.

The books that have been suggested are great. But, in the end, it's going to come down to you reading a few of them and deciding which method or ideas work best for you and your individual children. One book may work great with one child while another idea works with another.

Remember, living by example and what the Bible teaches us is important, too. Good Luck.

I highly recomend a couple of books. Parenting with love and logic, Positive Discipline, How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk. They talk about why your child may do things and also how to positively get them to change their behavior for the better.

The Love and Logic group of books includes one called Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood: Practical Parenting from Birth to Six Years. This is a great book!

I have read a few parenting books, but my favorite is Parenting with Love & Logic by Foster Cline and Jim Fay. I have also attended a parenting seminar, where Jim Fay's parenting video and books were used, and I really enjoyed it. Cline and Fay also have a book for teenage parenting called Parenting Teens with Love & Logic. Hope this helps.

Good morning, B.,
After reading about your situation, I just wanted to send you a little note of encouragement. My husband & I were both single parents with 4 children each when we met and have spent many years raising this huge family. Most of them are married and/or out on their own now. It hasn't been easy, but definitely has been worth it. We have been able to give each of our children a firm, loving foundation and finally have a little time for ourselves. We used to go down to the local IHOP and sit just so we could talk to each other without distraction.
Good luck and hang in there. Be sure to make time with each other. The best foundation of a family is a good, solid marriage.

Becky Bailey's Conscious Discipline. The one I'm reading right now that I really love is "Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline". It is fantastic and gives an easy step by step approach.
