I am a part of MOMS Club and I highly recommend it. There are weekly activities for the kids in addition to playgroups and monthly Mom's Night Out. You can attend as much or little as you're interested in. I know SO much more about fun things to do with kids in our area than I even had any idea existed before. And it's just nice to have a social outlet for both me and the kids and a support network. They brought me meals for 2 weeks when I had my daughter. It's very regional, so everyone in my chapter lives very near to me, which is convenient. To find a chapter near you go to www.momsclub.org My chapter only costs $23/year

Hi L.
I'm M., I too have a 6 month old baby, boy though! What area do you live in? I'm 31 and I live in north Chandler. I joined a couple of mom meetups, through meetup.com. Which is great! You're more than welcome to come to any groups. It's hard to meet people in this city, especially if you're mostly just hanging with your baby! :)

You can meet other moms by attending Storytime hours at your local Phoenix library. It's pretty easy to strike up a conversation with another mom, there; you already know that you have something in common! Bookman's and Borders also have fun storytimes during the week.

Another option is to sign-up for City of Phoenix Aquatics swimming lessons at the pool nearest you. They have Parent-Child lessons that would be appropriate for your little one, and allow you to meet other mommies. City of Phoenix also has various community centers where you can sign-up for a mommy and me type class. I did mom and baby pilates and a stretching type class when my youngest was an infant. All of these have helped me to meet other women from my neighborhood with kids similar in age to mine.

Most of my "mom" friends are ones I met while I was a member of my local MOMs Club. There are several throughout the valley.

find the location nearest you:

if, for some reason, nobody gets back in touch with you within 2-3 days, contact another chapter closer to you & let them know

also...... if you'd like to find friends outside of the mom & me groups, try a sorority alumnae chapter .... if you were initiated into a chapter in college, look for your chapter & get involved, you can meet women from the same affiliation from collegiate chapters all over the country & have fun with social events and philanthropic work, usually one event a month ........ if you have never joined a Panhellenic sorority, Alpha Phi and a few others have "alumna initiates", these are women of any age who would like to join and have this sisterhood, I am the Alumnae Membership Coord. for the SW Region for Alpha Phi, please let me know if you have a question

Try meetup.com. There is every group under the sun there, so most likely, there's one in your area. I'm a member of phoenixmommies.com - they have events based on your location, so that's another good way to network with other moms. You could also go to baby storytime at the library and maybe meet other moms with babies there, too.

You should check out North Central Parenting Group (www.ncpgaz.org). It is a great organization where you will be grouped with moms that have children the same ages as yours. Your group will be lead by an experienced childhood educator. It is a great place to meet moms and learn a bit in the process!

Not sure what part of town you live in, but there is a good MOM's group at both Scottsdale Osborn and Scottsdale Shea Hospitals. Below is info from the shc.org website:

Scottsdale Healthcare Conference Center at Shea

Wednesdays: 0 - 12 months, 1 - 2 p.m. OB Classroom at Osborn
M.O.M. is for moms and babies to provide social interaction, support and practical information for new mothers

If you are a stay at home mom you could look into the moms club nearest to you. It is a great place for you and your daughter to make friends. They usually have a calendar of events and as a member you can go to as much or as little as you like. They also have a moms night out once a month. It is really great and helped me when I first moved here. You can check them out at momclub.org. Good luck!
