Hello! I am looking for a good photographer for my son. I'm interested in good & bad comments. I'm also interested in people's experiences with pricier vs. bargain (Proex/JC Penney/etc.) photographers. (Also, has anyone had experience with Ron Berg photography in St. Paul?) Thank you.

I have had proex do an ok job but they always do the photo up on a table which is fine if your child sits nice or doesnt move yet.But I recently found a new photographer her name is candace brumm and she works out of a studio in her home and she takes the photos on the floor so you don't have to worry about the falling. Also she doesn't copy write her photos so you can print as many as you want whenever you want. If you want more info let me know. and I can get her number for you.

We've had great luck with the Sears Portrait Studio at the Sears near the capitol, on Rice Street. When you buy the SmileSaver package for $25 or $30 or so, you pay no sitting fees for two years. You can take your kid(s) in and have a few shots taken, and if you don't like any of them you just don't buy any prints. Sometimes I'll get the portrait package, so I spend $9.99 and get about 35 prints of one pose. Lots of options. Sure, there are great professional photographers out there, and it's something to do once in a while, but for more frequent photos, I love Sears. (we always do Halloween, Christmas, and Easter there, plus random occasions from time to time.)

Hello!

We have had experience with Ron Berg and loved him. He is a little more pricy but, we felt he was well worth it for the pictures 3/6/9 and year.

Love him.....

Hi! We went to Meghan Doll for our Christmas pictures. She was phenomenal. I have a very active two year old and an infant and she didn't bat an eye at all the chaos. The pictures turned out great, she really captured their personalities. Her initial sitting fee is higher than some but her prints are really reasonable! Highly recommended. You can find her at www.meghandoll.com

I know someone who will come out to your house or meet you at a location. Her name is Erin and she is very reasonably priced. She took candid and posed pictures of my daughter who is 10 months old. She also took pictures of my niece and nephews. She uses items around your house for props; blankets, bobbies for the younger children. Her phone number is ###-###-####. She nannies part-time and is excellent with children. Email me if you would like to see some samples or if you have any more questions.

I used Ron Berg for some professional head shots about 10 years ago, and I was very happy with the results. I have no idea how they would be with kids however.

I really like Flash Photo in Ridgedale, they have done a fantastic job on my sons pictures. I think its a step up from JCPenney, Proex, etc. but the cost isn't too much more. If you are looking for a pricier private photographer, Dan Magnuson in Excelsior is phenomenal.

We used Ron Berg for our first son. He does take great portraits. But, for the drive, it might be better to look elsewhere. I know of folks who have used a photographer in Oakdale (sorry, I don't know who), and I've seen the pics and they look great.

I did the Proex thing with my second son, and there is a difference between a real photographer and Proex/JCP/etc. The Ron Bergs of the world cost a lot, but the quality is above par.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience last weekend with Steve at Proex in Highland Village. He used to be a professional photographer out of his home and he is great to work with. Our son is four months and he really helped us get the smiles out for the camera.

We've gone to JCPenney quite a bit and have mostly pleased. However, now that our daughter is older, we decided to go somewhere that was a little more catered to young children. We went to Flash! Digital Photos in Ridgedale and LOVED IT. We'd had our Christmas pictures done at JCPenney and they weren't very accomodating for a busy toddler. Since your child is still so young, JCPenney is probably fine and you can find coupons for cheap portrait sheets ($3.99/sheet is a BARGAIN!) so I'd probably do that for now and then when your child is older, spend more on a quality photo shoot. Good luck!

Ron Burg offered me a free portrait panel for 3, 6, 9, 1 year and you just buy the matting and frame. I liked Ron Burg but he is very expensive. I got tons of pictures for less at Sears. I thought Sears did a good job but two issues stick out. They didn't line up the picture well on two photos and they can't fix it once taken, they charge extra for cropping and enhancements, and they forgot about me and we waited over 2 hours. This was at the MPLW location and the Mall of America did an okay job as well and was less busy. Each time I've spent between $160-210 but I purchased lots of photos. I do like Ron Burg but if you want a specific pose you have to tell him what you want. He usually listened to me but sometimes would forget and just do his own thing. He takes tons of pictures and uses an animal on a string which always created the best of smiles from my DD. He believes in customer satisfaction and has been taking pictures for a very long time. I hope this help. If money isn't a concern I'd suggest Ron Burg. The money thing...I paid I think $75 for a 5x7 and he has an 8 picture portfolio for $110-120 depending if you buy other pictures. I hope I helped and if you have any other questions let me know.
