Looking for Extremely Inexpensive Venue for Party in Forest Park

I realized after sending out evites that my house just won't fit our entire family for my son's first birthday. I am looking for someplace to have his party where I can bring the food and drink, where they just supply the space and the tables and chairs. The park district is too expensive, and the Eagles lodge insists that you buy their drinks at a dollar and up a drink. Does anyone know of any other place I could try in Forest Park? A church that rents out their basement or anything similar?

What can I do next?

Hi, I was just in the same boat as you and live near Oak Park and Harlem Ave. The best priced option was the River Forest Park District Building, believe it or not! They are at 401 Thatcher Ave. and Central, just under the viaduct at the Metra stop. They were just $35 an hour ($42 for non-residents), with another $10 fee, I think. They have two sized rooms to choose from, the upper level one is quite nice, and table and chair set-up is included. There's a small parking lot with a playground and baseball field right there.

Another more expensive option is The River Forest Community Center at $170 for 2 hours (still cheaper than Oak Park and Forest Park Districts, I believe). The advantage there is they have an indoor play center, if you're concerned about weather this upcoming time of year. The room seats about 30, and there is also a mini gym available adjacent to it.

Good luck!

Bensenville has a beautiful park called Redmnd Park with two Gazebo type dwelling,(outside) it's not too far from what I can tell after I mapped it out. You might call Bensenville Park District and ask about it.I have been to parties there. You just have to pray for great weather. I think they also do indoor parties or have rooms at the DeerGrove leisure center. You might call your Village Hall also. Sometime they have places that you don't know of listed for these types of things.Say I just thought of this also, how about a bowling alley?

Hi M.! I co-own a Montessori preschool and we rent a space at the River Forest United Methodist Church on Lake St., corner of Thatcher. I know that they do rent the space, and it is a substantial space, for parties very reasonably. The Pastor's name is Char Hoffmann and the number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

How about the community center? http://www.forestpark.net/index-1-CommCenter.htm

Or how about the back room at Brown Cow? I know they have some lower cost packages.

There is also a meeting room/party room at the library and at town hall. May be worth a call.

I would try the the Community Center at Des Plaines & Jackson. They don't allow alcohol but their party room is very big, clean and there are plenty of tables and chairs. There is also a kitchen in there. When we were looking to rent it for our triplets' birthday I think it was $250 plus a deposit which you got back if nothing got damaged.

We opted to cram everyone into our backyard but that was in June and people didn't mind being outside. Otherwise, we would have booked the Community Center.

There is also the VFW on Hannah right by St. Peter's church. I've seen their sign that they rent out but I've never been in there.

I would definitely check out Oak Park and River Forest as well. They may have some more alternatvies. Or if you're on the South Side mayber Riverside or Brookfield have some venues?

Good luck.
