Hi Moms! I am looking for ANYONE who has heard about the benefits of splitting up the 12 month immunizations. For example - instead of giving the MMR immunization in one shot it would be split into three; Measles, Mumps, Rubella. I saw a special on Larry King Live explaining that doing this split may help prevent autism in young children. No doctor's that I know of in my area offer this. I even went as far as to call Merk (who manufactures this MMR shot) - they can be ordered in seperate shots but they are slightly more expensive. If I couldjust get some info on where to find a doctor who will split the shots up I would feel so much better.
It's already such a major shock to our babies bodies when they get these immunizations - maybe the split would allow thier systmes to handle each disease better. Instead of battling all these diseases at one time the split would be much easier on their systems.
I would appreciate anyone's response.
I live in Exton, PA.
Thank you so much!
M. Carroll - Mom of 10 month old Finn

Hi M.,
Congratulations on everything. Being a mom is great! I don't know if my advice will help or not, but I have a child with an autism spectrum disorder and have done alot of research on this topic. It is a hot one. Everything that I have read lately has said that there is no proven link between autism and the MMR shot. Also, the reason they were concerned was due to the thimesol that was in the serum as a preservative, which has long since been removed. That being said, if you want the vaccine broken into 3 seperate shots, I would discuss it to your pediatrician. I would think they would rather work with you on that than your child not get the vaccination. If they don't, it might not be the right doctor's office for you.

P.S. Sorry, I just noticed that you said that your Dr. office won't do it. Have you tried Allstar Pediatrics in Exton/Lionville? If they won't do it, see if they can reccomend someone who will.

Hi, I moved here from VA when my second was 6 months old and I'm pregnant with number 3 now. So, I wasn't with my current ped. from the beginning with my first, but he was open to following my requests. In general, people like him (I don't think it's as much to do with the vaccine schedule), so I'm not sure he's accepting new patients. His name is Dr. Rob at Allstar Pediatrics in Exton. I also know that the Birth Center in Bryn Mawr (they have an office in Exton, too) has a list of peds reccomended by other moms and I think I saw a ped in West Chester and one in Bryn Mawr on the list. You could call the Birth Center. Good luck! -S.

I am not exactly aware of where you could get these shots seperately. Did you try the county health department? Some advice, it is wise to check the indgredients list before you give your children shots. The most harmful ingredient is thimerisol (mercury) and other substances like msg, aspartame, ect. I closely follow a doctor named Russell Blaylock (a neurosurgeon)who has done numerous studies and reasearch regarding thimerisol and vaccinations and the link between this ingredient and autism, ADD/ADHD and other neurological disorders. It's worth avoiding injecting these ingredients into your children at all costs. The connections between thimerosol and Autism, etc are too great to go unnoticed.

Hi M. - My sister has a 4 month old and is spacing out all of his immunizations. She plans to split the MMR booster as well. After much research, she found that Chester County Pediatrics (she visits the office in Exton) was very understanding and accomodating with regard to her alternative vaccination schedule. Good Luck!

We split ours and give our children their immunizations on a revised schedule-one at a time. Kids first in Paoli has been really great about this and has respected my wishes. They are part of CHOP. Our Dr is Dr. Hariharian
