I do have a great suggestion. On Friday mornings in Parkville there is a wonderful Yoga class called Yoga and weight loss. A group of 4/5 women meet to do a little gentle yoga, talk about tips for weight loss and spring detoxing, then we do about 1/2 of walking together. The place is called Gardens of Delight. The class meets from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. The phone number for registration is ###-###-####. Hope to see you in class!

Hi G.
Im new to this area, but the first thing I joined was Pleasant Hills Fitness club, I love to work out. I also like taking daily walks around my area where I live. I have a group of 4 friends and we email each other on things we do each week to lose weight, kinda of a buddy system to help each other we also weigh in on Fri morn, you dont have to say your weight if you dont want to, some just say if they lost or gained that week. We dont look at it as a "diet" just eating healthy and excercise.
My name is R. would love to be a fitness buddy with you.
Im married for 29 yrs, I am 55 yrs young-LOL
just moved here from California 2 months ago.

I live in Platte City and I go to the YMCA/Community Center-and I LOVE IT! I've always been into fitness and nutrition (and I have a husband who is a personal trainer on the side so that helps) but the community center is a great facility! I really want to show my daughter that health is important. The rates are reasonable, they have tons of FREE classes, and they have a "child watch" program while you workout. I'm a SAHM with only 1 child so she doesn't get to socialize with other babies much and this is a good opportunity for her as well. I'm more of an independent person in the gym but between the classes and getting to know people through the child watch thing, there are lots of opportunities to meet other moms. Definately check it out! (And the personal trainers are great there too-I've worked with Marcia a few times) Good luck! Its awesome that you're taking initiative to become more healthy and active!

You might try going to the community center in your area or local shopping mall. I've noticed more women power walking the mall (days that I take off). I've made some WONDERFUL friends in my home based business/part-time job in Mary Kay Cosmetics. The women are out of this world, the company is Christian based & the potential earnings are well worth it as well as the tax write offs. I only made mention of this because I you mentioned making new friends...these women are so key in my life because they lift me up when I'm down, pray for/with me, support me (where I am), encourage me & a list of other things. You can make your own hours, how ever little/lot you want to do. Good luck & God Bless!
