Hello, I am a 31yr old mother of 2 and I got tubal ligation about 4 1/2 yrs ago. I am now a month late with my period and I'm never late unless I'm pregnant. I took a home pregnancy test and it came back negative but I've been sleeping a lot, have the weird cravings, been nauseous but not vomiting, I've had heartburn like crazy, and also been peeing a lot. So my question is how likely is it to be pregnant and still test negative after having a tubal ligation? What else could be the cause of my late period?

What can I do next?

There are hundreds of things that could be going on. Yes you could have a failed tubal and a false negative and be pregnant. The odds are pretty low, but indeed possible. There are medical reasons that you could be missing your period, like the woman before said, you could be going into early menopause. There is also the option of stress. Stress can cause a ton of crazy symptoms, one of the biggest is missing a period. Who knows, but you do need to call the doc.

Good luck!

id get a blood test! idk if youve ever heard of the show called "i didnt know i was pregnant" its a real show about real women who thought they were pregnant so they took a million pregnancy tests that all turned out negative. they didnt show any signs or gain weight, then 9 months later they thought they were having really bad cramps or thought they were dying and turned out they were in labor.

it is very possible for pregnancy tests to say negative when you really are pregnant.

Sorry to say but you should get a blood test to know for sure. I had my tubes tied after child # 3 and 3 years later I now have 4 children.

I did research after my Tubal (6yrs ago this past March) and learned alot. For some women a side effect of the tubal is peri-menopause and it can happen a few years after the tubal. I am 37 and after speaking to my OB/GYN and she told me that it happens. For me I decided not to go with one suggestion (taking the pill) and deal with it. My periods have gotten very out of wack at times (gone 3months w/o one then a BAD cycle for a few months). I am going to my Dr again and talking about other alternatives to Birth Control pills like HRT

If you are really concerned call your Dr Monday morning

Get to a doctor and find out what is going on......I know a couple who had 4 kids, she got a tubal and he got a vasectomy, imagine how surprised they were when she was pregnant with number 5........he had an extra tube that connected itself and she reconnected as well.............they looked it as meant to be.........but it was a shock...........

So, make sure you are ok......with it being this long, it need to be checked out.........

Good luck and take care.

You could be sick. I've been very late before due to being sick. Buuuut... the bad news is that if you're tubes weren't burned or seared then there have been cases of spontaneous reversals. It happens more often to men. And you can get a false negative. But you are talking about really small odds on both of these. So my suggestion? You need to go to the doctor.

You could be preggers, but it's more likely that you are sick. And I don't want to scare you but there are some serious things out there that would cause your symptoms.
