C.,

I have 3 children and I was very picky about my OBGYN's. I don't know exactly where you live, but I have 2 doctors that were awesome:

- Omega OBGYN Associates
Dr. Pickel was great, but all of them in that office are great.
Arlington, TX

- Dr. Robert Trostel
Garland, TX

**They are really good. They have a great bed side manner, sense of humor and make you feel very comfortable.

Hello C..
I am K. and I work at Medical City Dallas Hospital. I am also expecting my first child in February 2006. My ob/gyn is Dr. Kira Butler and she also located here in the hospital. The office phone number is ###-###-####. I am very happy with her and have been seeing her for the past 5 years. Her office staff is very organized and helpfull. The receptionist is Maria and the insurance lady is Juanita. I too have United Healthcare so I know that Dr. Butler is a contracted provider.

Good Luck!

I have United Healthcare also and I recommend Dr. Mark Bernstien who is at Medical City (Forest Lane and Central). He's great, but if you feel more comfortable with a woman, one of his partners is Dr. K. Culpepper, and she is very good, too. The number is ###-###-####.

My OB/GYN is one of the busiest in town, Dr. Paul B. Payne. I was on United Healthcare when I delivered my little boy. Dr. Payne was out of town when I delivered, so one of his partners, Dr. Gunby, delivered. I liked him a little better! Another doctor joined their practice a year ago or so, Dr. Littrell (spelling?). I've heard she's great. I delivered at Baylor downtown, their office is nearby on Swiss Ave. Here is the info:

Dr. Paul B. Payne
4224 Swiss Ave.
Dallas, TX 75204
Practice: Brucks, Gunby, Payne and Littrell
214. 821. 9938

Congratulations!

Hi, C.! Sorry to take so long on this but mamasource wasn't working the first time I tried.

I *love* my midwife, Susan Akins. I went to her because I was so tired of feeling like I was on an assembly line at regular OB/gyns. She and another midwife work with a team of OB/gyns at Women's Health Alliance at Baylor Dallas, so while you see the midwives, you also have access to the docs and in fact are required to see one at least once during your pregnancy. If the midwives have any questions, they confer w/ the docs.

Susan and Tanya specialize in healthy baby/healthy mom pregnancies. It was my first and I knew I was going to have a TON of questions, so I wanted someone who would take time with me, be on call for me and generally be a calm port in the storm. Which is exactly what Susan was. She has delivered more than 1,200 babies and is warm yet completely unflappable.

I had a kidney stone while pg; no problem, they got me through that and I passed it the same day. Then when it came time for delivery, Susan was there checking on me and overseeing the pushing. I don't remember so clearly, but my husband loves to tell the story of Susan sitting cross-legged on the end of the delivery bed, directing our efforts and helping the baby through with baby oil. Sorry for the TMI, but I ended up with only two small stitches, and I can't imagine a doc taking that kind of time to look after me.

Anyway. I can't recommend Susan highly enough! The number to Women's Health Alliance is ###-###-####, I think.

I hope this helps! Congratulations on your pregnancy! :-)

I got pregnant with my first when I was new to Dallas also. A friend at my office recommended Women to Women Health Associates. I use Dr. Lawson there, and I also like Dr. Crochet.

This group is in the MamaSource directory already, but the phone num. is ###-###-####.

The group is all women doctors, and Drs. Lawson and Crochet are both very understanding, caring, compassionate. They are really interested in your feelings and concerns. They are connected with Baylor Hospital--a WONDERFUL place to have a baby!

Good luck, and if you'd like to email me directly feel free: ____@____.com.

I love my doctor, Dr. Lisa Umholtz in Plano. Her group is called Plano Women's Healthcare. I saw all the other doctors there in rotation during my last month, and all were great (all women). If you can get in with Lisa Umholtz or Arlene Jacobs in particular, you will love them.
