Hi Everyone! I am looking for an assisted living facility in the western suburbs of Chicago, preferably Bloomingdale area (or within a 5-10 mile radius) for my grandparent's. I have absolutely no experience with this sort of situation and I am having trouble finding any reviews on surrounding assistant living homes.

If anybody has any positive/negative feedback can you please share. I am near Sunrise Assisted Living, Bloomingdale, also Windsor Manor, Carol Stream, however, I am open to any others as well.

Thank you so much!

Our grandmother recently moved to Belmont Village on Geneva Road in Carol Stream. It is very nice - we would recommend it.

My grandma and another friend of the family live at Victory Centre (Center?) in Bartlett. They love it! My grandma is in an apartment and has her own kitchen, does her own cooking, etc. The family friend is in another building because she goes down to a cafeteria for meals, needs a little more help with medications, etc. But they both like it very much-

I've heard good things about all of those places, actually. Another one you might want to check on is Wyndemer in Wheaton. Not sure it's spelled correctly, but it has assisted living facilities and it's very nice also.

Because everyone looks for something different. I would go and visit them unannounced and talk to the actual current residents and find what they like and dislike about the place, check with state of illinois for any current complaints and then set up meetings with the ones you like for a formal tour. There are a few in batavia, geneva and st charles. The hunt club, carrol towers, the reserve, heritage woods.

My good friend owns a company Senior Living Experts where all they do is match people up to the assisted living facility that fits their needs the best. No cost to you. Her name is Lisa Dildine, you can google it if you want, I hope I am allowed to give you her cell phone, I am fairly sure she uses it for work calls too...###-###-####. Great service.

I have some good friends that have an Elder Care service in their home, http://www.happynesteldercare.com
For years, they have been caring for one to three, elderly people in their home for years. It's west of Cantigny in West Chicago. They are licensed, provide 24 hour care, home cooked meals, and a genuine family atmosphere. You can call them at ###-###-####. Tell them M., in Chicago suggested you call them.
You can make a visit with or without your folks, and see if that is appropriate for your situation. It costs a lot less than a residence nursing home, and they would have personal attention, and a pleasant home to live in.

I used a free organization for locating elder care and related services - asilverconnection.com - which assigns you a support person. Silver Connections has helped me on multiple occasions, and they keep current via customer feedback on each facility.
