Hello Ladies and Gents,

After receiving such wonderful advise/information regarding slings, I figured I would ask for advise regarding Sit and Stand Strollers/Frames. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and have another at home who is just over 2 1/2 years (he will be 2 yrs 9 months when the baby is born). Although we just purchased a very nice all-terrain double stroller, I was looking for something smaller and light weight to get quickly in and out of the mall or the food store with the 2 children, especially in the beginning while I am still recovering from my c-section. Can any of you recommend brands? Also I would be happy to hear about your experiences, pros and cons, to help me make a decision. I have a Graco infant carrier, so I need to make sure the stroller/frame is compatible with that.

What can I do next?

I had my second child when first was just about same age as yours. I got the Baby trend Sit n Stand and I love it. My older child loves the freedom it provides (sit, stand, hop on/off). I used it last year with infant car seat all the time and loved it, and this year mostly just for long walks (daily) since older child is now 3 1/2. I am still very pleased with it. Only drawbacks, the front seat for the baby isn't great for naps; it can be heavy to push 2 kids; storage could be bigger - but even with these "cons" I highly recommend it for children 2-3 years apart. I don't own any other double stroller and don't have any need for one. Congrats and good luck!

I too looked at every sit/stand stroller out there and finally I got a JOOVY Sit/Stand stroller. They were one of the most affordable sit stands and they weren't too bulky. It is a great stroller with room for the infant seat in the front and then a more than ample area for a child to sit or stand in the back. My daughter was 3 1/2 when our son was born and she LOVED IT! It's great for trips in and out of the mall. It folds up just a little bit bigger than my Graco single stroller did. It also has a storage area under the seats for packages. It holds 2-3 normal size packages. I just hang the other ones on the side of the stroller. The only negative thing is you have to buy the "parent organizer" seperate (which is another $30, but well worth it). The parent organizer holds anything from your drinks, keys, camera, etc. I've been using mine now for 13 months and I've recommended it to numerous friends and get asked questions by parents in the mall of where I got it. Check out joovy.com or go to Babies R Us and type in Joovy strollers. GOOD LUCK!!

I have been using the Sit n' Stand brand double stroller for almost 2 years and I LOVE IT. I bought it through One Step Ahead after "googling" a coupon code for it. I travel through airports about every 2-3 months with 2 children and I can easily fold this stroller one-handed. I wouldn't say it's lightweight but it definitely isn't heavy at all. You honestly wouldn't want a lightweight stroller that a child could stand on - you need one that is sturdy enough to take turns around people, cars and shopping aisles without the possibility of tipping. Joovy came out with their version after I purchased mine and I think mine looks sturdier and has a better storage basket but that is a matter of personal opinion. Through dozens of flights this stoller has proven to be indestructible - no sign of wear and tear after being exposed to nasty weather, baggage handling and my sprinting to airline gates. It's narrow, turns easily and can even hold my dog carrier when my son chooses to stand instead of sit. I highly recommend it. Good luck!

Have no experience with double strollers, but I can tell you the Graco Snap & Go was fantastic for our one son, so light and easy to manage, not sure what they have on the market for double strollers. Sounds like it would be ideal if there was a double stroller that had a snap & go feature for one seat and not the other, since you won't need it for the older one.

I didn't like the joovey b/c when I tested it out at the store I htought threre wasn't enough room for the older child when the car seat was installed in the stroller--there was more room in the graco---here's the links to the one I got. I got it from walmart b/c of the free shipping. Just make sure b4 you buy it to put a carseat in the front and see how much room the older child has.

Hi M.,

Congratulations. I did a lot of research on the Sit and Stands (Sit n' Stands) when my sister-in-law had a baby when her first was 2 1/2. I wanted to add that the Baby Trend Sit and Stand (link provided in one response) and the one offered by One Step Ahead are basically the same stroller. You can get the double stroller version that can be converted for the older child or you can get the regular sit and stand. My sister-in-law loves this stroller (I got her the double one). I looked at the Joovy Caboose and it is similar to the Baby Trend Regular Sit and Stand, but I found it to be a little more rigid with a little less room for the older child. However, I see that Joovy now offers a lite and ultralite version that might be nice. I agree that you should take your 2 1/2 year old and a baby car seat carrier to the store to try it out. Good luck. BTW, a lot of people like the Phil and Ted's Double strollers (expensive) and the Graco, but I found the Sit and Stands to be more flexible as the older child grows (I can't remember the last time my very active almost 4 year old actually sat in a stroller).
