I have a 3year old son with lots of energy. He is not around kids much and it's been very cold here lately so the park isn't always an option. I was hoping to find some activity we can sign up for like gymnastics, a playgroup, an art class or anything of the like.

Portland Parks & Rec have locations with open gym (called indoor park) for kids during the week. They usually charge $.50 or $1.00 per child. Lots of toys, little tykes cars, trampoline, etc. I've gone to it at the East Portland Community Center. Each location has their catalog of class & indoor park times online. http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/. There is also the Children's Gym in Milwaukie. www.childrensgym.com. There is Sunburst Gymnastics in Clackamas. http://users.easystreet.com/gyms/index.html. My daughter has also been to a birthday party at the Little Gym in Lake Oswego.

I have the same problem as you do with my 2 1/2 year old with cabin fever and I have 10 mth old twins so it gets hard to get out a lot. I have taken him to Washington Square and the Children's Museum by the Zoo. Washington Square has an indoor play area by JC Penney that lets them climb around a lot with padding. and crawling at the museum also. There is a lot of climbing OMSI also has an area for kids upstairs. I would be interested in playgroups also is you find some. Hope this helps.
