Hey Moms and Cat Lovers!! I am looking for a Wonderful place where I can board my precious cat. This will be her first time in a kennel. I'm nervous and need some advice on which place I should have her stay at. I need a place who loves cats and treats them with the same love and attention as they give dogs. I would love a spring, humble, The Woodlands or Fm1960/HWY 45 location. I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions :)

What can I do next?

Hi Kathryn,
Recently we went to NY for 11 days and I was late finding somewhere for my puppy. Anyway I am glad that I was, as I ended up finding a lady who does dog grooming at her house. To make some extra money she also boards a few dogs too. It was only $20 a night and far superior to a kennel. Why don't you try contacting some private cat groomers and ask them. I hated the kennells that I looked at for my dog. Even the luxury kennells were not as nice as my garage at home (my garage is not special).
I know you will find somewhere nice.

I leave my cats at home also when I go out of town. I have a friend come and feed them and clean the litter box once a day. I also have pet sitters. Telge Rd. Animal Hospital is where I have taken my dogs and cats if I have no other option. They are really nice.###-###-####. A friend of mine owns Prestonwood Kennels and it is nice too. The cat cages are normal size, but they can open them up to explore.Visit the kennel if possible first. Cats do better in their own home environment I think.

Kathryn,

My vet (The Family Vet ###-###-####) bordes I believe. If not I am sure they can tell you a good place or if you contact me personally as I have a friend that keeps pets :)

Cats can do allright at home for a two days unless there is a problem, ie. air/heat goes out, door to room w/food, water, litter shuts, cat gets sick or just plain gets lonely. For longer stays you really need to board or have a cat knowledgeable sitter. I've found relatives and kids of friends don't cut it unless they truly love my cats and enjoy them when they come to visit. Cats can get out the door really fast and don't come when called. There are very few cat only places to board so location is probably the biggest problem you will tackle. Our cats do not do well w/dogs even if in separate area (remember that sense of smell and hearing) and we also find that regular kennels are really focused on the dogs. We have boarded and groomed with Fat Cat Flats in Houston several times and our cats come home unstressed. They are great people and genuinely love cats.

Do you have to board her? We go out of town for 3-5 days and our cat is fine. We put out lots of food and water and she is good! She is an inside cat only though. If you have to board her make sure she has all her shots. Cats don't typically like to be put in a kennel. Best of luck finding a place if you must board. Usually the vet has a place to board the animals.
