Looking for a Wireless Monitor

I am pregnant with my 3rd baby due in June and since my older children are very active (3 & 2) I have a feeling I will be outside quite a bit this summer. I was hoping to purchase a new monitor that will allow me to nap the baby indoors but still be outside with my older kids. We have a rather large property so I was hoping to be able to hear the baby on the monitor if it wakes up and we are still outside. I don't want to have to keep running inside every few minutes to listen especially since it will not be easy to drag the older kids in with me. My last monitor was a baby shower gift so it is rather old and I know the technology has improved greatly so I am hoping to get a number of suggestions.

Hi! I also have the Summer Monitor. I bought mine 5+ years ago & used it through 2 children. Still works great!

(I saw from another posting how the Summer Monitor has been updated with the new tecnology! It looks fantastic!)

HI--Another vote for the Summer Day/Night monitor. Expensive, but worth every penny. Check the distance, though--it goes pretty far, but the video tends to die out before the sound reception.

Congrats on the new baby!

I have the BeBe sounds Angelcare Deluxe monitor with motion sensor. The monitors are wireless, and work well outside (not sure about how far you can go, my property is not that big!). But it does work if I am next door at my neighbors! I like it a lot. Congrats on the new baby!

Hi K., I have the summer day/night handheld color monitor.
Here is the link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265802
It received 4 stars and 1005 reviews!
What I really like about it is that you can carry it around with you rather than have the audio handhelp and then a monitor that has to sit on a counter somewhere. It has lights on it, so you can keep the volume down, and if baby cries, the lights go off. The sound is great. The video is really good too. I have the camera mounted above my son's crib and it stays on all the time. I've never had a problem with it... it's perfect.

Hi K.,

Plan your time outside and set up a play pen or crib or baby buggy so he/she can sleep outside while you work.

Good luck. D.

I remember seeing them at Babies r us but they were very expensive.. (back in 2007 before my baby) But I needed one because my husband was deployed and I had to be able to mow the grass while my baby slept...So I got creative...I bought 1mile hand held radios from amazon.com and used grey tape to hold the reciever botton down on the one I put in her room...when I needed it I just turned it on and it was just like a monitor!!
(I am prior service Army so that is a little more "normal" for me than most moms....but they do sell them if you want to buy the real baby monitor for long distance)

I have a Sony Babycall that we use for the same purpose - so we can go outside with our older child while the little one naps. We put batteries in the monitor and take it right out to the swingset with us. I don't know about the range distance, but like the other responder, ours works inside our neighbor's house. I'm sure you could do a google search, and look for one with a good range.
Best wishes!

K., We have a graco that goes between 2 rooms at 5 second intervals. there are 2 bases for each of our sons rooms and then 2 portable monitoring devices. We havae one set to both rooms and then 1 just set to the baby's room. We got it at babies r us for around $100. It works good. Good luck
