Hi everyone!! I have been looking FOREVER for a teacup yorkie, a yorktese or also known as a morkie. I have found LOTS of people selling them online.. but they are always scams! I have had 13 people email me back about puppies and they are trying to send them to me from the other side of the country!! Can we all say SCAMS!!! Makes me so mad because when I look them up it says they are in Austin, TX and they arent! I live in Hutto, TX.. but I'm willing to drive to get my new puppy! We are wanting to complete our family with our first family pet, and this is what we agreed on, although we have a price limit of $200. If anyone knows where I can find one, or someone who breeds them.. I would love to hear from you!!!

What can I do next?

There is no such thing as a yorkie puppy for $200! sorry but the breed typically goes for $900-$1100. I got a 6 yr old Yorkie ( possibly mix) at the pound, and that is rare to find one there! These are dogs that are well bred, and in big demand! 13 yrs ago I got my first Yorkie for $400 and that was cheap back then. They were typically about $600. when I got her at 5 weeks, i wondered how much that was per ounce! LOL! She fit in the palm of my hand! One thing you should know too, is that Yorkies are hard to train, have health issues, and tend to have shall we say quirks! i would investigate this option a little more closely before you buy one. Please beware if you do find one for $200, somethings not right , unless it is a mix w/o papers or from a rescue, for so little money! I also have a dashund, now that's a good dog and worth the price! My 13 yr old yorkie is still a handful! the new one (6yr old rescue, is a handful too!). Good luck , but if I were you I would re-evaluate, and don't be unreasonable on the price, or you will never find one!

Look up a Rescue on the internet.... I work with Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas....The dogs are fully vetted thru the rescue and adopted out fully healthy....Adoption fees are reasonable and you get a healthy dog!!! I don't know if there are yorkie rescue groups.....Try it!

We love the bassets!!!

For every breeder dog someone purchases one pound puppy dies. Save-A-Life try the Humane Society. They may have a puppy you did not even know truly needed your family. My friend got a miniture pincher named "Penny" there. She is the cutest little thing and she always wanted a "Min-Pin". You can get all kinds of All American Designer Dogs at the Humane Society. The one in San Antonio is located on Nacogdoches near Perrin-Beitel. www.mybiopro.com/claudia13

P.S. Remember to Spay or Neuter!! We have one World and our Children have to grow up in it.

M.,

I don't know how far you are from La Porte TX but there is a reputable breeder there named Kit Fontenot. I bought my Maltese from her 4 years ago and I know two other people that got their malteses from her. These dogs are healthy. I'm pretty sure she also has Yorkies and maybe she cross breeds them also with the Malteses. Her number is ###-###-####. She also has a website, not sure what it is but you can google it.

Good Luck

Check with the American Kennel Club for reputable breeders. They should be able to give you a few good leads. If you cant find something in your price range there, check the Greensheet...the phone numbers tell you how close they live and you should be able to see the parents. I sell my wolf hybrids in the Greensheet. When I started looking for pomeranian puppy, I went to the Greensheet. You can even check Greensheet ads online.

perhaps you might check for a rescue organization.... they often run into puppies and might be closer to your range? All dogs deserve good homes and most of the time rescues are good dogs.....

MHO and good luck

If you are looking to only spend $200 on a Yorkie puppy, let alone a smaller one, you won't find one that's a puppy. You might be able to locate one who is older, perhaps already done breeding from a breeder, but def not a puppy. My mother in law raises Yorkies, both small ones and reg size, hers go for around $600. Hers are all AKC and her kennel is used as an example for breeding kennels nation-wide. You might have better luck finding a Morkie for your price, but again, you have no idea of the breeding practices used for cheap dogs, and that is def something to consider. Remember, the more expensive the dog, the better breeding circumstances. My mother in laws dogs only breed once a year and the bitches are only bred for a few years, then become house pets.
My best advice, would be to call all local and sort of local pounds and SPCA locations and tell them you are willing to adopt an older Yorkie and could they put you on a call list.
Yorkies are great lil critters, I have a male myself and havent been able to afford a female yet, and I've been looking and have found a few for around $400, but decided not to get one due to the kennels they were from.
I'm still contemplating getting a Maltese, and if I do, I'll let you know if I have puppies anytime soon. Morkies are just adorable!

Good luck on your search for a new family member...

This is funny you would ask, we were traveling from Bryan/college station to San Antonio just last week and we pulled up beside someone with a magnet sign on there car for those very same mixes you are looking for.....so there is someone near you. Sorry but I don't have the name and number, keep searching the net, don't cave to the puppy mill or scam people. I grew up from age 13 owning yorkies, in my opinion they are not for small children. Good luck!

The only way you are gonna find a yorkie for $200 is POSSIBLY thru an animal shelter. A good yorkie is at least $400 up to $1000, and the smaller they are, the more expensive they are. A morkie or yortese is a mix of Yorkie & Maltese. The best way to get a well bred dog is to call your vet and ask them for known breeders that don't operate puppy mills. But $200? Forget about it!

HEY M.,
I GOT MY TEACUP YORKIE HERE IN TEXAS, IM NOT SURE HOW FAR KILGORE TEXAS IS FROM WHERE YOU ARE BUT IF YOUR INTERESTED E-MAIL ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE PHONE NUMBER.(____@____.com) MINE (LIL CHAOS) WILL BE A YEAR OLD JANUARY 11, 09 AND SHE WEIGHTS 2.7 LBS. WE HAD SOME HEALTH ISSUES BECAUSE SHE WAS SO TINY, WHEN I GOT HER SHE WAS ONLY 6 OUNCES, IF YOU DO GET A SMALL ONE SOMEONE WILL NEED TO BE WITH IT 24-7. I HAD A VET TELL ME TO TAKE MINE BACK TO THE BREEDER BECAUSE SHE WOULD BE SO MUCH TROUBLE, AND NEED EXTRA CARE. I DIDN'T BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO BE WITH HER EVERY SECOND, AND KNEW IF SHE HAD A CHANCE IT WOULD BE WITH SOMEONE THAT COULD BE WITH HER AROUND THE CLOCK. WE WENT THROUGH SEVERAL TUBES OF NUTRICAL BECAUSE WE HAD TROUBLE GETTING HER TO EAT. IN A WEEK AND A HALF SHE WAS AT THE VET 5 TIMES FOR PNEUMONIA TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, SHE HAD HERNIA'S WHICH CLOSED UP..., (IF THEY HADN'T SHE WOULD OF HAD TO HAVE SURGERY). I'M JUST SAYING A TEACUP CAN BE EXPENSIVE, I DON'T THINK YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET ONE FOR $200.00 ANYWHERE, I GAVE $600.00 FOR MINE AND THAT WAS THE CHEAPEST ONE I FOUND, SOME WENT UP TO $4000.00. I LOOKED FOR OVER A YEAR TO FIND THIS ONE. BEST OF LUCK WITH FINDING YOUR BABY!

I agree you won't find a puppy from a breeder for cheap. I would also suggest you contact a rescue that deals specifically with Yorkie's. There are plenty of rescues that deal with specific breeds, and since so many good dogs are put to sleep every day I would strongly urge you to adopt!

Good luck in your search!

As many of the other responders have stated, I don't think you will find a yorkie, much less a teacup for the price you want to spend. My sister bought one in Oct 2007 at the pet store in our small town NE Texas and he was $750.00. From what I understand about yorkies, that is about the going rate. A few months later, we got a Shih-tzu from the same lady/store. Both dogs have had great health and are wonderful pets in our home. The name of the store is Hot Dog Hill in Mt. Pleasant, TX if you would like to contact them.

Yorkies are great, but I would not suggest a teacup. They are bred inappropriately, causing them many health issues. We love our yorkie who is 7 pounds. He's very healthy with no organ or teeth problems.

I don't have any sources for you, but good luck finding a teacup yorkie (or any purebred yorkie) for $200. Perhaps that is why you are running into scams. I remember my parents paying $400 for a yorkie - over 25 years ago when I was a small girl! For that price, I think you are looking at possible scams and definite puppy mills.

I would try looking up rescue groups for Yorkies. There are several and they are all reputable. One of them is:
www.adoptapet.com

If they can't help, they can usually refer you. Good luck on your search!

M.,
I too agree with one of the other moms, it will be hard to find a yorkie in the price range you are looking for. Yorkies are a very popular dog and usualy run in the $400 price range depending on male or female. If you decide you are willing to pay for more I can give you the name for a reputable breeder. We received our german short haired puppy from them a year ago and they also breed yorkies. We are very happy with our puppy. They also screen the new owners and will not sell if they think the puppy is not a good fit for them. Good luck in finding your new family member.
www.ninepines.net is the website if you decide to check it out.
