I am looking for a good reasonably priced private speech pathologist in the Richardson/Dallas Area for my 3.5 yr old boy. He is already going to PPCD program but his school speech therapist feels that it will be better for him to get a private speech therapy as well. Are there any that speech therapy services in the evenings / weekends? Both me and my husband are working and hence the after business hours service will be of great help to us.

Thanks for your Help

My 9 month old goes to speech therapy at Our Childrens House of Allen. I have been pleased with all the therapists there and we have seen some good progress. Our therapist is Kathy.

Have you contacted your local school district? At age 3, a child can be evaluated and receive therapies and intervention from the school district that they live in. The therapies are free, so you won't have to worry about $$.

Have you checked out UTD-Callier Center in Richardson? They are very reasonable. Berkley Williams would be my choice of therapist. They also have an awesome preschool for children with speech issues. You may also check out Shelton Speech Services. They are located at Hilcrest and Arapaho. If you do not mind the short drive, Speech and Language Services of North Texas located at downtown Plano is a good, reasonable clinic.

Hi S.! I just wanted to share with you that I used to have a speech problem as well. I stuttered from when I was a toddler and it got so bad, I would barely talk because it was so much work and embarassing. I started speech therapy when I started 1st grade (the school district at that time didn't feel it necessary that I start before; they said it was normal for a young kid to stutter and I may grow out of it. Instead, it got worse; glad they are more open minded now). Anyway, I was in speech therapy from 1st to 5th grade at school and did soooo well! I improved DRASTICALLY! I didn't need private therapy. I credit my speech teacher for that! She was amazing!! Good luck!
