If you're renting a car see if the rental agency can provide a car seat usually they have them esp. at the airport for an additional fee.
Another alternative is to put a wanted ad on craiglist for that area and see if you can negotiate something.

Safety first makes one but we ALWAYS rent one with the car. In my experience, they aren't necessary for the plane becuase your 2 1/2 year old is never going to be sitting anyway!

You should be able to rent one, either from your car rental place or from a local hospital or other provider - you can rent all sorts of things; car seats, strollers, changing tables... Call ahead to reserve.

Hi - Eddie Bauer makes a portable car seat, it is sold on Amazon.com. There are also other makes sold at One Step Ahead, and Leaps & Bounds. I had used the Tote N Go sold by One Step Ahead 2 years ago for my son while in Cape Cod. It was great for cab rides, etc.

Graco sells this booster seat--it comes in two options...a regular car seat that you can dismantle once they are older. Or you can buy the booster seat by itself and take it anywhere with you--it's really light.

hi - i just purchassed and traveled with the Sit N Stroll carseat which converts (easily) into a stroller. you can stroll right onto the plane, then the wheels tuck underneath and you use it as a carseat, then once you land, you unfold the wheels, and it's a stroller again. it was amazing. and it's a very safe carseat - it has latch and seatbelt capacity, plu the old anchor strap as well. it worked wonderfully. here's a link:

happy travels!

The rental car agency rents car seats and will have it installed for you.

Some of he car agencies have cars seats. However if you are looking to purchase one anyway, I recommend the sit and stroll. I love mine. It's not small. It's a bout the same size as a regular car seat, but it is also a stroller. The wheels fold into the bottom of the seat and it becomes a car seat. Did I say I love mine!!! I don't have to take a stroller with me, ans can use it as soon as I come off the airplane. Because it's more like a car seat on wheels, the seat is a lot more comfortable than a stroller, and even has a little travel pillow attached to the seat.
