Hello,
I am new to the area and am looking for a pediatrician in the Newtown area. I don't mind traveling, but I would prefer it to not be too far away. Does anyone have a pediatrician/practice that they really like? Thank you for your help.

What can I do next?

Hi, M. - I highly recommend Lower Bucks Pediatriacs. My son sees Dr. Weinberg, but I've also seen several of the other doctors in the practice, and they're all wonderful. They're in Yardley (385 Oxford Valley Rd) so it shouldn't be very far for you. The phone # is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I take my girls to Dr. Janis Halpern. Her office is located in the Medical Building at St. Mary's Hospital. I've never had a complaint and I LOVE her nurse, Bonnie. I've also seen the other doctor at the office, Dr. Victor Rivera, and he was great, too. I think he mostly deals with older kids, though.

I take my daughter to KidsFirst in Newtown, and we LOVE it there. The dr's are great and really know their stuff. They are open late, until 8:00, 3 nights per week, and they are also open on Saturdays. When I call to schedule a "sick" visit, my daughter is always seen the same day, no questions asked whatsoever, even if it is just a minor sickness such as a cold. They are very good about giving you an appt when you need it. Also, if you have any type of question during after-hours, 24-7,you can call and be directly connected to a CHOP pediatric nurse. I found this extremely helpful, especially during the newborn stage, because we got immediate answers for seemingly silly questions. Also, the fact that they are affiliated with CHOP is a huge factor for me-- when my daughter was only days old, she had SEVERE jaundice and had to be rushed to CHOP for 2 nights. The way in which the dr handled the situation, and called every day to see how she was doing, was very professional and comforting. Good luck!

Hi M.
Like many others who responded, we use Lower Bucks Pediatrics and they are wonderful! I have a 10 mos old little boy who was also hospitalized with RSV last month and had had multiple other problems over the last several months. We mainly see Dr. Jennifer Coren who I absolutely love but I have dealt with all 5 docs in the practice and they are great. Anytime I have had to call the doctor on call(it's been many times unfortunately) they have returned my calls within 5-10 minutes or less.
Good luck!

My sister lived in Newtown for 10 years and just recently moved. She traveled to Princeton, NJ to The Pediatric Group (66 Mt. Lucas Road - ###-###-####) to see doctors for her two boys. She interviewed many and found this group to be the best. They're all good doctors and they're always available. Downside - they don't take insurance - you have to submit your own bills. But the care is worth it.

My recommendation:
Kids First Newtown
Newtown Pavilion
6 Penns Trail, Suite 105 Newtown, PA 18940
###-###-####
Dr. Julie Kardos
I chose Dr. Kardos, because she has twins, as do I, but I can tell you on my first visit I was introduced to the other doctors and they were all friendly. This office is associated with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
A little about me: I live in NJ and my girls developed severe constipation, which was not treated properly. I found a specialist within CHOP and then decided to switch to a pediatrician that was connected with the hospital for easy referrals and also for anything in the future. The hospital is the best and to have a pediatrician connected to the hospital lets me know that I will be referred if necessary. Hope this helps. Sincerely, S.

Dr. Coren is now at Hatboro Pediatrics www.hatboropediatrics.com - local to the Newtown area. She left Lower Bucks Pediatrics recently to provide more personalized care to her patients. I would follow her anywhere. She can relate to children and parents better than any other pediatrician I have ever met. Thankfully she is close to the Ben and Irv's right near our house.

Hi M. -

I use and really like Lower Bucks Pediatrics in Langhorne. Their office is on Oxford Valley Road and their phone number is ###-###-####. They are friendly and quick. I don't have long wait times when I take my 15 month old twins there and I always get a quick response when I have to call the doctor after hours.

Hi M.!
Like many of the others, I also take my daughter (6.5 months) to Lower Bucks Pediatrics. She sees Dr. Amoia, she's very nice. We've also met with Dr. Coren for a last minute visit..also very nice. I feel very comfortable calling about anything I have a question about. They are very quick to call back for after hours calls and don't make you feel like you are wasting their time. My friend recommended them to me and she takes her son to Dr. Weinberg who she really likes. I don't think you can go wrong there. Good luck!

I would also highly recommend Lower Bucks Pediatrics. We usually see Dr. Coren, but have seen several others and they are fantastic. She has three little ones and really understands the concerns of parents. Our baby (who was born at the end of November) got sick with RSV over Christmas.

We were in the hospital for more than a week the first time and they called every day to not only talk with the doctors but to us to make sure we felt we were getting the treatments we needed for our son. They have a great staff! BTW, we moved here last summer from Minnesota and feel like we just lucked out with finding this practice. Welcome to the area!

I have also met Dr. Weinburg (also in the office) and really liked him as well. He treated my daughter both days in the hospital after her birth (late November). He was very thorough and answered all of our questions.
