I am looking for a new pediatrician that has similar philosophies to Dr. William Sears, MD- author of The Baby Book and The Vaccine Book and so many other books. He is a cross between a traditional and a holistic doctor. He is very involved in his patient's nutrition and well being. Does anyone have a good recommendation of a pediatrician or family practice doctor in LA and OC? I live in Long Beach. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

M.-

My daughter sees Dr. McFarland at Columbia Pediatrics in Long Beach. She is very open to working with me and respecting my preferences when they don't follow the "traditional" medical practice. Columbia has about 8 doctors on staff and I've seen two others and have been very pleased. They will do an informational interview with you so I would check out their website and see who you might have a good fit with. Their office is just down the street from the hospital. Good luck!

My pediatrician is great. She is located in Newport Beach and is a traditionally trained pediatrician with 8 years experience working in a Children's Hospital. Then she discovered homeopathy and trained in San Diego. Her practice therefore can draw on her knowledge of both fields. She has very similar views as Dr. Sears and will support - encourage - you to NOT vaccinate your child. She mans her own office, takes and receives calls personally and is very reasonably priced. Call her, she'll meet with you to discuss your concerns. She met with me for over an hour when we were interviewing perspective doctors, and I was very impressed all around.

You may just want to go to Dr. Sears' practice. He is in Orange County, and the "Sears Family Physicians" are supposedly great.

Dr. Jay Gordon. He has been practicing good things for quite awhile. He is also Jenny McCarthy's son's ped. Nice guy too. Another recommendation is to go to www.tacanow.org and then to Resources, check out the Peds listed there. They all understand the dangers of vaccinations and follow a safe schedule and know to listen to the mom.

Dr. Gordons web-site has a listing. My ped. does not completely agree with me but she does not frown on my thoughts,###-###-#### Annette Liu . Hope this helps =)
