Looking for a Nearby Inexpensive Getaway for Hubby and Me

My parents are coming to town and offered to keep the kids for a night or two so hubby and I can get away together for a romantic rendezvous. Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive, nearby locale for a Tues. and/or Wed. night? I'm imagining a hot tub and fireplace. We'd be willing to drive to Southern N.H, S. Maine, or S. Vermont. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My husband and I enjoy the Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit. It's not too pricy and you can get a great room on the ocean with a fireplace and a deck - don't think they have hot tubs.

Whereever you go...hope you enjoy!!!!

Two great spots- I'm not sure how much you want to pay, but i would guess both have mid-week rates and maybe even some specials before tourist season starts. We've stayed at both and absolutely loved them!

Porches Inn- North Adams- right across from Mass MOCA. Heated outdoor pool and adorable rooms.

Wentworth by the Sea- Portsmouth, NH. More of a spa/Inn spot with pool, hot tub, close to downtown Portsmouth but water views from the rooms.

Enjoy your getaway!

Try The Meadowmere Resort in Ogunquit, Maine.

My husband and I go there all the time. They have rooms with private jacuzzi and fireplaces. The Kittery shopping outlets are about 15 minutes down the road! If you go on a weekend, they have a food package. Check out the website, I think you will be happy......

Hi S.,

Lucky you! I'm not sure if I'd call these places "inexpensive", but, a few of my favorite local hotels include Emerson Inn by the Sea in Rockport, MA. VERY romantic and Rockport is a great town to explore. Also, North of there on Route 1A in Rowley, MA is the Country Garden Inn. Very quaint suites. Rowley is a very small town. Not much there, but they do have Todd's flea market on the weekend which is just a mile or two further north on 1A from the Inn and if you continue north on 1A you could visit Newburyport, which has alot to explore as well. If you are looking for a bigger city you could try the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA which is very elegant. I don't think they have any fireplace or jacuzzi suites though, but Salem has so much to do.

As you can see, I really like the North Shore. For pretty drives try Route 133 from Rockport to Ipswich passing through Essex (another fun town to check out). Also Route 133 from North Andover to Georgetown is a pretty drive. 1A from Ipswich to Newburyport is also a nice drive. If you really want Southern NH, of course, Portsmouth is a must. Have fun.

Rosewood Country Inn in Bradford NH. About an hour away, really good breakfasts, very relaxing. There's a good spa not too far away too, and a golf course. (This is what my husband and I did last year; I did the spa, he did the golfing!) rosewoodcountryinn.com

You could also do a nice hotel in Boston, they might have more of a variety in rates, and there would be more to do if you wanted to go out in the evening.

Have fun!

My husband and I did two nights away at the 1802 Bed and Breakfast in Kenneybunkport - it was awesome! Variety of rooms (some with hottub some with fireplace some with both) and the breakfast was delicious!
