I'm looking for a Mommy & Me class in the Davie area. I've never been to one so I really don't know what to expect. I really want to find a place where I can take her a)to get us both out of the house for a while and b) so she can learn to interact with other children. She's such a social baby and I'm really not that social so I'm not sure what to do or where to go. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi K.

There is a wonderful Mommie & Me programm offered at NOVA. I took a 14 week class when Daniel was little. They do offer the first class "My amazing newborn" for free. Then there are other classes to choose from. This is the website http://www.nova.edu/msi/pplace/index.html

I loved how wonderful kid oriented the place is. The teacher was really great. If I lived closer I would definitely continue taking classes there.

Enjoy

A.

The Nova Parenting Place has some great classes. If you are interested in Baby Sign Language, I am going to be teaching a mommy and me baby sign class in Sept. It is for babies 6 months and up. I am pretty reserved so I know it is hard to meet others. My kids are natural leaders so I end up talking to a million people because of them :)

i highly recommend Gymboree Music & Play - the classes are awesome, I'm sure there's one in the Davie area or there's always the Lil Gym too. i did Gymboree with my first a lot. it was really stimulating. but i also go to the mall - there's usually a kid play zone ... it's a no shoe area ... a good time to interact with other parents/mommy's ... i get a coffee and watch them discover and play... Good Luck.

Hi K.

I have never been to any Mommy and Me classes here, but alot of my friends go to Nova University on University. There are several clases you can take. If you go to there web sight you will find one for you. Also have you thought about joining the Moms Club in your area. That is another great place to me other moms and playgroups for you daughter.

Hope this helps

More affordable and just as great as Nova is Amanda's Place. There's one in Pompano and one in Dania Beach.
You can check it out:
Dania Beach is www.geocities.com/amandasplacedania
Pompano is www.amandasplace.org

Hi there
I've been taking my little boy, Miles (11 months old), to Nova's Early Childhood Center for classes. He seems to really enjoy them. He's been going since he was 5 weeks old! They provide a lot of socialization for babies and mommies. The classes we have taken were called "Play Together, Learn Together", and " Baby Rocks and Baby Rolls". They are currently signing up people for the fall session which begins in early September. The place is located just off of University Drive and I believe 36th Street (just south of the Pier 1 store). Hope this helps

Hi K.,

The classes that Nova offers are awesome. You should definitely check them out. I think there is also a My Gym in Plantation which is really good too!

Good Luck

I am sure everyone has told you about classes at NOVA, just down the street from you. They have great classes, plus two areas where the little chickens & their momma hens can chat and play.
Also, join a church/synagogue where they have classes.
Jump & Gym. Let it Be Music. My Gym......come on, you know their are many groups to choose from.
Join the local chapter of MOMS Club for a small fee ($25.00) and have tons of weekly playgroups for moms & their babies.
And all of the above & below mentioned classes are Mommy & Me classes.
Good luck!

I attend a music and movement class with my 14 month old and we love it!! They have classes during the week and Saturdays. The instructor, Lourdes, super sweet and is great with the kids (there's about 6 in my class). It's called Peas In A Pod Music. Check out their website if interested. www.peasinapodmusic.com

Take care

Hi K.,

My son is now 8 years old but when he was 6months up until about 18 months old we attended Mommy and me classes at Nova Southeastern University. I absolutely loved their classes and would most definitely recommend them. Not sure moneywise what you were looking at but I thought it was the best money spent.

Regards,

LC

Hello;

I am looking for a mummy and me class. My daughter is 3 1/2 months old. Is this too young? What can I expect from participating with my newborn in such a class? We recently moved to downtown Ft. Lauderdale, can anyone recommend classes in or around this area?

Thanks a lot!!!

K.,

I don't know what Davie has to offer, but both Plantation and Cooper City offer great Mommy and Me classes. Look on their websites under "parks and recreation". Also, at 6 months, there are mommy and me exercise, yoga and massage classes at Memorial West and maybe Memorial Regional as well. Another option might be Stroller Strides, a stroller exercise class. Try a variety, and then go with whatever your daughter seems to like. My son loves his art class (through Cooper City) and I would have never picked it myself!

Good luck
